Absolutely amazing! Stumbled in here on a cold day and received warm, quality food for an affordable price. Tried the new Greek style lamb and fell in love– would definitely recommend to anyone

If your new to the neighbourhood and looking for fancy or fine dining, this is NOT for you. Spudbar is more of a wholesome lunch break. Doesn’t break the bank and is exactly what you would expect. You can find me here most Tuesdays… $ 9.90 anything for students! Spud bar is one of those places where Im not looking for shmancy… A bowl full of vegetables with a ladle of flavoursome meat soup just manages to hit the spot. The portion is large but not ridiculous, for those looking for a smaller portion they have halve potatoes or sweet potatoes. I’m not rating this place 4 star for quality of of presentation, quality of ingredients, or venue… Merely based on taking a concept of taking great simple ingredients that are good for you and then throwing them in a bowl that really hits home. Let me know what you think.

When I’m lazy, have just finished work, have been to the gym, or just need vegetables, I head to Spudbar and get the roast pumpkin and spinach salad with no feta and mushrooms instead. Guaranteed to make you feel like an athlete and healthy human being. The masses of Uni students everywhere flicking their hair are the only downside to the place. Stop speaking with such an inflection! Yes, I’m sounding grumpy and old.

I came here for lunch one day, not really knowing what it was. Who knew that a spud was a potato? Okay maybe you, but not me. Anyways, when I went, it was empty(probably because I came at like 3PM). I ordered the classic, which was recommended to me by the employee, and it was great. :) Basically just the definition of a very upped up baked potato. The potato was sorta broken apart, but still baked, in the skin, and it had a lot of toppings like sour cream, cheese, corn, etc. Overall, it was a pretty fulfilling meal =)

I’m a big fan of Spud Bar. I used to be a regular at the Blessington Spuddie, so I was excited to find this one on Glenferrie Road. Vegetarians are well-catered for on the set menu, but you can always design your own spud. The Garden of Eden is my pick for a brilliant vegie fix and you can step up the healthy factor by substituting with a sweet potato. On a sunny day, the windows are open and there’s a nice wooden bench in the window which is the prime position in this place to people watch and chill for a while on your lunch break.

My boyfriend and I were wandering down Glenferrie Road hungry yet poor so we had to budget accordingly and didn’t want a massive feast. Food: At first when I thought of «Spudbar», I thought — alright I guess a baked potato? That doesn’t sound very filling though. Little did I know these meals were actually in large bowls topped with fresh salad and sour cream. It is not just 1 measly potato. To be fair, the portions were a lot better than just 1 measly baked potato. However, I wouldn’t really call the employees here«chefs» or even«cooks». They just sort of pile the different toppings onto the potato with no real care. I ordered the Chilli, Beef, & Bacon Bolognese(without the mushrooms) and it was great, but everything just seemed a bit… disjointed? It didn’t feel like a real meal, more like a potato with loads of different side dishes. I don’t even know if that makes sense. My boyfriend on the other hand didn’t really enjoy his dish at all — especially not the idea of raw cold mushrooms just plopped on. — Spudbar provides a filling meal for a decent price, but there’s just something a bit… off about the place. Like I said, there’s really no care involved. The potato is at the bottom of the bowl with all the different toppings layered on. I almost felt like there was a bit more«chef quality» to burgers I get from McDonald’s. Spudbar seems to be a good place for a quick and cheap bite, but if you’re looking for a bit more, I suggest you look elsewhere.

Spud Bar is one of my favourite places to go when I need a quick, easy and healthy lunch. Sure you can go for the cliché(cheese, sour cream, coleslaw and bacon), but if you fancy something a little out of the ordinary then skip all this and get your potato topped with chilli bean con carne, red dhal or even chicken and chorizo ragu. I go for a sweet potato with dhal, quinoa tabouli, loads of salad and tzatsiki. 20 minutes and $ 10 later I’ve had my daily 5 and I’m out the door. The Glenferrie Road outlet is a particular favourite — with their big dining section, along with an outdoor courtyard, I sometimes sit here a little longer reading or working on my laptop. The staff are especially friendly — they once asked me what music I wanted to listen to and changed the Ipod for me.
