Hokey Curator

Hokey Curator gets 5 stars because it is simply a joy to go inside. I don’t even have to buy anything and I’m still happy after shopping there. This is a store that has become one of my favourite places to shop in Melbourne, let alone Glenferrie Road.
The clothes here don’t really play on the androgynouslook, they are straight up feminine, but that doesn’t mean they don’t pack a punch. You can look tough in a dress — you’ve just gotta accessorise. I can’t afford the clothes, but it doesn’t stop me from worshipping them.
The sales assistants who work here are phenomenal, every time they are so friendly and helpful that I end up having a chat, and even when the store is busy they still manage to check on you and look like they are having fun.
Hokey also stocks some killer sunglasses in a cabinet so make sure you check them out. While the accessories aren’t as exciting as the beautiful dresses, they are nonetheless gorgeous and worthy of your attention.

Mind the somewhat loon of a shop assistant/​owner, because she is crazy, but this store totally rocks my jocks. Firstly, let me clarify the former part of that sentence. She’s crazy in like a charming way. You know, the incessant giggly kind. But her craziness was actually our savior when it came to finding a dress for my partner’s sister’s wedding.
My partner tried on a beautiful silk dress, but it just didn’t wow us. One of the criteria for this wedding was colour, and the dress was a pinkish cream at its most flamboyant. The crazy assistant untangled a stray blue ribbon from her messed counter and wrapped it around my partner’s waist. It changed everything instantly. If we had been at any other store, we would have walked out dissatisfied. But we bought that dress and she wore it to the wedding and she looked stunning.
This shop is all about rare finds sourced from mostly unheard of labels. It’s the antidote to the chain store, and in all its craziness I do indeed love it.
