Went for lunch with some family members and the service was reasonably good, the food was great and the atmosphere was ok. I can say that the pizza /bread seems to be reasonably fresh, the pasta was good, although a little oily, especially the lasagna(which is to be expected) and the choice of dishes seems to cover all aspects. I personally would like to see a smaller menu with more authentic /rustic dishes but in saying that, I can’t complain about anything that I experienced today.

A little loud but very nice good service excellent food. A little limited in drinks etc but this is a Italian restaurant after all Very popular and the background noise is far from relaxing. You do have to wait for your drinks as the waiters are quite busy.

I enjoyed this restaurant. The staff(Italians) were nice and friendly with a bit of accent which was exotic and not hard to understand. The food was excellent. We ordered their pork belly and pasta dish for main and zucchini flower as side dish. A good place for small functions and friends.

I treated my Mum to lunch at Gianni for her birthday and we were both really happy with all aspects of the restaurant, food and service. Being a coeliac, my Mum was so impressed with the gluten free options available and we devoured the antipasti misto plate, with gluten free garlic bread and delicious salads. The desserts were also really delightful and again, offered several gluten free choices. Located right by the river, it’s the perfect spot for a long, relaxing lunch, with friendly Italian wait staff.

We didn’t eat here, just had a quiet drink outside by the river. And gosh, wasn’t it lovely? Sitting on a nice couch, sipping a delicious drink, watching the sun go down over the river. This place looks pretty busy at night, so I’d guess the food is pretty good too. Portside is a great location, with some great views, potentially blocked by giant cruise ships from time to time. I should get back here for a meal.

One of the best places I’ve eaten Romantic & special A real crowd pleaser I’ve celebrated a birthday here & plenty of romantic dinner dates with my partner The food is fantastic & the service is impeccable The prices match the quality of food & the moscato is yummy as well as the tiramisu I recommend this place to people all the time! It’s a defiant must

Shared a delicious Gianni’s pizza. Was fresh and a great size for two. We sat by the window with a beautiful view of the docked cruise ship and a lovely sea breeze. The only draw back was a thin layer of dirt on all of the tables by the window — obviously blowing in through the window.

The location is obviously fantastic, and the food is just plain ordinary(not good enough for what you are paying). The sizes of the meals are too small as well.

we went to Gusto Da Gianni for my birthday, the food was pretty good though it was quite pricey… the deserts were very good and would have them again no worries… the big downer was the no split bills… it was not written anywhere that we could see and weren’t told this when we booked the table of 13… we spent $ 500+ I don’t know that i will rush back… but i may venture back eventually

I celebrated my birthday here recently and was impressed with the calibre of food they served. A little slice of Italy happened here with 15 other of my friends. The atmosphere was very loud and we were seated on a long wonky table on the outskirts of the restaurant, but when the food came, it was time to be merry. The staff are really helpful, efficient and kind enough to translate some of the menu for you. We tried the Pane Casareccio which was bread with organic olive oil and balsamic($ 9) which was freshly baked and really a great starter if there was ever any great a starter. Then we had several pizzas which were served on a freshly made base, very crunchy and not soggy(good thing), the toppings weren’t as many as I’d have liked to be on a pizza of that size, but it tasted very nice, authentic and how wrong could you have gotten ordering the pizza? My friends ordered the gnocci and some pasta, which in turn tasted sensational… there is not much I can fault this place with. The mains will set you back $ 25 – 30 usually but with the location and authenticity of the food, it is pretty much worth your buck.

Gianni’s is a rustic and stylish Italian restaurant near the river end of the Portside strip. The waterfront location adds to the stylish interior. Although I cannot comment on the food, the lounge areas are fantastic. They have two separate lounge areas, with sophisticated and comfortable black leather lounges and ample red and gold cushions. The lighting in each room is really unique. Our room had a huge black light with a dozen fingers with lamps on the end. It sort of looks like a spider, but a classy spider. The windows look out to the waterfront, making the space complete. All in all, it is a lovely intimate space that would be perfect for small groups to enjoy some wine and finger food. I did get a slight surprise that 1 house wine was $ 10. I thought it was a bit pricey but maybe that says more about my taste in wine than the pricing of the place.

Portside is a pretty swanky area and Gianni’s perfectly fits the location. It’s a pretty big restaurant with a good layout and attentive waiters. It has a varied Italian menu but it’s the pizzas that have me coming back. I usually go in a group of 4 and we usually get three pizzas and share them, maybe with a side of chips. Our favourites so far are the Patate and Margherita, both of which are vegetarian, though Gianni’s Favourite is a great pizza too(it has prosciutto). The lasagne and Brodetto All’Anconetana(seafood in a tomato and basil broth) are also worth a mention. They have desserts that aren’t bad but I feel they’re too pricey for the serving size. They also carry a range of Tiro drinks(I recommend the blood orange). This isn’t a place you want to go to weekly unless you have a lot of disposable income or don’t mind the price. But the pizzas are always good and if you’re sharing it won’t make a big dent in your budget. Its main clientele is well-to-do adults but everyone is welcomed. No snobby waiters here. Gianni’s is open for lunch(12−3pm) and dinner(5−10pm) Monday through to Sunday. They do take away as well if you don’t want to dine in. They also hold events throughout the year that you can make reservations to, the most popular being the Melbourne Cup, Christmas and New Year’s Eve, though they are pretty pricey.
