Valentines day brunch with the fella. The vibe here was great, lots of people out to eat in the sunshine. The staff were very accomodating for customers without bookings, and the food was delicious.

Little Guildford, at the corner of Swan Street and Terrace Road has recently extended its opening hours — now open for breakfast, lunch and dinner Wednesday to Sunday and most public holidays. While I was languishing in Margaret River recently the good Lady FWO decided to go along and have some lunch, as you do. Her summing up of the experience follows. Their menu has changed since we were last there, with breakfast offering bacon, mushrooms, pancakes, avocado smash and eggs variously — one that has caught my eye, and ensuring I will be along soon, is «eggs on fire’ — served with chilli and corn cakes, spicy sauce, jalapenos and yoghurt — just my sort of breakfast. At lunch, chicken satay, Greek lamb salad, Cajun chicken salad, salmon, ribs and steak sandwiches are among the inclusions. Lady FWO chose an open chicken sandwich and a glass of Jane Brook sparkling pink to start, with a Howard Park Riesling as a chaser. The chicken came char grilled, accompanied by creamy brie, lettuce and tomato on toasted crunchy bread and smeared with a generous dollop of house made paprika aioli — adding a smoky mildly spicy note to the moist and tender chicken; a pile of crisp wedges sat alongside. An excellent sandwich. The Jane Brook sparkling is a dark pink hue, almost scarlet, a blend of Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon. Strawberries and citrus aromas followed by flavours of raspberries and cranberries, dry and crisp, with good bead and mousse. Howard Park produce outstanding wines and the Riesling is no exception. From the Great Southern it has lifted aromas of citrus and apple blossom with a crisp, elegant palate redolent of crunchy green apple, lemon and lime. Drinking well right now as with all Great Southern Rieslings it will age with grace and finesse. Little Guildford is rightly regarded as a neighborhood gem — good food, good wine, excellent service, great location — it is after all only a couple of hundred yards from home. Recommended.

An older establishment which fits in with the history of Guildford well. The coffee is great, the food is great and the price is reasonable. Kids have colouring in yo do and we love the décor.

Have been here three times our first visit was a public holiday and the service was outstanding considering how busy they were. The other two times have been faultless.

Found this little gem whilst strolling around Guildford. It looked quite busy from the outside but I was lucky and was able to grab the last spare table inside. My hubby and I both ordered the big brekky which definitely lived up to it’s name. All the ingredients were fresh and tasty and the poached eggs were cooked to perfection. I’d love to return for lunch and perhaps sit in the lovely outside area amongst the garden.

Great little spot among the roses and quaintness of Guildford. I have had two of the breakfast options here: the mushroom and poached which was quite good, and also the Italian scrambled eggs with tomatoes and proscuitto tossed through it. This one was delicious because I love proscuitto and scramble, but there was enough food here for two! Not an option for the daintier appetites. This is the best brunch that I have had in the Guildford locale.

So I was excited to try Little Guildford after reading lots of great reviews on here. I was having a catch up with an interstate friend and because she needed to be in Guildford afterwards it seemed like a perfect opportunity to give them a try. I’m sad to say that the visit was decidedly average, if not slightly below average. My friend ordered a latte and I ordered a green tea. The latte was delivered promptly and while the glass it was in was scalding, the coffee itself was lukewarm(although she said it was nice coffee at least). My tea didn’t come for another 5 or 10 minutes and was already borderline overbrewed when I received it. We then placed our order and I was informed that they were all out of the Avo Smash that I had set my sights on(also when I asked for it with gluten free toast the waitress thought I asked for fruit toast and made a big deal about that being weird). I was also told that there was avocado so I could have something with avocado, just not with avocado smash. I then had to decide on a plan B and settled for the Tater Skin stack with chorizo and beans. When it came out I was surprised to see the avocado smash mix on top of my stack. When I asked about the surprising appearance of the we’re-all-out-of-it avo smash I was met with disdain and an exasperated«well obviously they had enough for that but not enough for a full serve». My friend ordered beans and toast and we were a little disappointed when she discovered that her beans were from a tin. The tater skin stack was actually just half a potato but was still quite enjoyable. The bean and chorizo mix was tasty and my small amount of Avo smash garnish was yum. After breakfast my friend decided to order an orange juice and when we finally got someone’s attention and she asked for a freshly squeezed orange juice the response we got was one of the passive aggressive hospitality experiences I’ve ever had. «We don’t do freshly squeezed juice here» she said incredulously and then when we tried to establish wether it was a glass or a bottle we were buying she said«you haven’t been here before have you?!» We looked at each other and both said«no» which was met with«I can tell». I was flabbergasted that asking questions about something we were paying for would be met with such a response. What does that even mean?! So after all that I will probably never return to Little Guildford. The food was just not good enough to make up for the rudeness and impatience of the staff.

I grew up in Guildford so may be a little biased but I love this place. Great for just a coffee and cake, breakky, lunch or even pretty amazing for dinner. Had a steak sandwich for lunch here on the weekend and it was the perfect lunch time size, very tasty and staff were quite accommodating for changes. It’s beautiful sitting outside in a nice day or evening. Definitely check it out if you’re in the area!

I really like coming here, I’ve been twice so far. The service is super friendly, it feels like you’ve turned up to a friend’s house! The coffee never takes very long & the food is great. They have simpler, classic options & sometimes it’s nice to go out & not have to work out what the menu means! I’d highly recommend coming here whenever you can! Note: They don’t take breakfast bookings on the weekend, so you might need to wait if you’re going at peak hour but they’re worth the wait & the area is lovely!

A lovely change from the city café is the Little Guildford, located just before the Swan Valley. I stopped past for initially a coffee but ended up ordering the buttermilk pancakes($ 14.00). Served with crème fraîche, berry compote and strawberry — my gosh! The coffee was great and I will be back. The area is only a 20 minute drive from the city but feels like a nice old country town.

Love everything about this place! I don’t get out to Guildford often but I’m so glad that my girlfriend chose this place because it’s gorgeous and delicious and not overpriced. I got a fresh apple juice, mug of coffee, the smashed avocado with a poached egg and side of potato cakes for $ 30! And it was all totally worth it. The smashed avo was so fresh with cherry tomatoes and Fetta and the potato cakes were like fried mash potato heaven. The café is cute and good for families and kids with a nice outdoor area and big indoor area. The service was friendly and very prompt and the food came out nice and quick. I will definitely return.

A Little Gem in the Valley! I finally had the opportunity to give this place a shot this morning having woken up before noon. We got in around 10:30(around a 30 minute drive from Perth) and we were not to be disappointed. Once you get to number 140 which is a bit of a mix of shops and the like, look for unit 3 or the rather generous outdoor seating area out the front to locate it. Also the trees and shrubs out the front are a pretty big give away. It is set pretty close to the round about end of the street also so try and get parking on that end to save walking. There is ample seating inside also but we chose to sit outside since the scenery there is quite nice and relaxing. The wait staff attended to us almost instantly on arrival and were very efficient in explaining that it is counter service and finding us a place to sit. They were pretty busy this morning, due to most of the tables already being occupied but after not even 30 seconds of waiting at the counter and numerous apologies from the waitstaff and the on duty Barista I was able to place our order. Deciding to go with the Atlantic Salmon Pattie served with poached eggs, asparagus and hollandaise with an english breakfast tea and a serving of Buttermilk Pancakes served with vanilla cream, berry compote and maple syrup with a cappuccino, we were not left wanting in any department. Whilst the brekkie menu is albeit a bit more«basic» then other brekkie joints closer to Perth the offerings are good value for money and deliver on flavour. The bill totaled at $ 40. Did I mention the wait staff are VERY friendly and good at their jobs? Definitely worth a look in. Great for a Sunday brekkie on the way into the Swan Valley for some wine tasting or even just a lazy Sunday drive.

I grew up in the Swan Valley with a veggie patch and ponies. With quaint and peaceful, rose laden Guildford only a stone throw away. As a child the excursions to Guildford were so exciting. Saturdays meant a trip to the bookstore for the latest Baby Sitters Club book, then frowning whilst choosing which ice cream to try at the Junction Ice Creamery. Sunday afternoons were spent browsing with mum through clothing and vintage shops often stopping for hot chocolate and cake. Later in the life, weekends meant rowdy nights at our locals pubs consuming not much more than beer and cheap wine. Finding ourselves huddling around the fire at Alfred’s Kitchen devouring burgers at midnight. As I grew up, my taste buds matured and what Guildford had to offer was just not enough. Many lovely cafes and restaurants have popped up over the years but few ever enduring the test of time. Then along came Little Guildford. Little Guildford has recently opened its doors to cheering locals. You can find this pretty little café on Swan Street across the road from the historic Rose & Crown. The décor is where old meets new, scattered bric a brac and blooms adding warmth and character. A photo by Alfred Robert Linus Wright adorns the back wall showing Swan Street back in 1894, echoing Guildford’s strong historical roots. Beautiful mint green tiles set against rustic timber furnishings lend a touch of old world glamour. The menu draws inspiration from local produce and honest home cooking. The food truly embodies the whimsical, country feel of Guildford. The perfect stop before a wine trip out to the Valley. Relaxed, casual and family friendly, even BYO! Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner Little Guildford is definitely worth the drive.
