I’ve been here many a times because someone else has chosen the venue but I wouldn’t waste my time again especially when there are so many better options on Jetty Road. They really need to lift their game… Especially food wise. Nachos are awful. Try Salsa or Beach Burrito.

Décor: beautiful. Cocktails: delicious. Sangria: delicious. Food: «authentic» mexican — it’s no high class restaurant with exquisite dainty foods, but if you’ve ever been to mexico it tastes like it. Great experience overall for the price!

Food was not what we expected for the price. Looks like it was all thrown together I got sick after starters and couldn’t eat my main. My cocktail was poorly made Waste of money

Fantastic cocktails. Great for a girls night out. When we rang to book they said they would split the bill but when we arrived they would not, this was a disappointment as we were not prepared for this. The food was nice, the guacamole was fairly good. Waiting times was quite long even though they weren’t busy. One couple asked how much longer it would be and they ended up leaving. Parking was a challenge too. All up it was nice enough but my group and I will not be rushing back.

I like this little place — I’ve been there numerous times for many occasions. The service is usually pretty fast if they are not busy. There is a lot of variety in the meals, but nothing outstandingly healthy. The main issue is whether the staff will agree to split bills. As I usually go out with a group of friends, it is rare that someone will want to treat all of us to a meal. Tonight they agreed to split the bill, but other times they have flat out refused and we have had to come up with the correct change… not great when almost every meal ends with .95 cents. The décor is fun and the bar is well stocked, so you are in for a treat.

My memories of this place from years ago are of a good night out. Sadly, from my latest foray into this place, either my memory is wrong or Montezuma’s isn’t what it once was. My nachos were a bit sad looking, and the tostada likewise just didn’t do it for me. One thing that is better here than the other Montezuma’s is the service, which was really quick, friendly and responsive.

I’m a bit of a Scrooge. Don’t get me wrong, I like getting free stuff as much as the next guy, but I don’t like the obligation. If I wanna get a friend a gift, I want it to mean something. I don’t want it to be a gift ‘because it’s Christmas’. Having said that, I always like when restaurants get into the Christmas… spirit(though it makes me shudder to describe it so). You’d expect shops to, as it’s a massive cash-in holiday for them, and I don’t doubt the restaurants are trying to cash-in too, but I don’t mind it so much ’cause it’s not so necessary. It’s back to obligations, I guess. The stores are obligated to acknowledge Christmas. Restaurants, not s’much. That was where my appreciation for Montezuma’s began. And, in a sense, that’s also where it ended. I think I went into this place with the wrong expectations. It wasn’t a seat-yourself operation. The staff take you to your seats. But that’s where the ‘fancy’ service leaves off. From that point on, it’s fairly hollow. I wanna say that’s because it was late in the day, but this is a restaurant. You can’t use that excuse in a place like this. The food was okay. I enjoyed the starter a lot more than I did the main. I got some corn chips and dip, which was great. And then I had me some Albondigas. It was good. Not crazy good, mind. But good. I just felt they went a little spartan on the toppings, and the meat didn’t have too much bang on its own. But that’s what you get for a fifteen dollar meal, I guess. Nevertheless, I certainly don’t feel any obligation to pay this place another visit unless I’m really hanging out for some corn chips.

I enjoy the odd Mexican meal so it is surprising that I only ventured into Montezumas recently for the first time. You certainly know you are in a mexican restaurant with all the vibrant colours and earthy wooden floorboards. It was fairly busy the night we went and we managed to get a seat in one of the cosy little booths which was lovely. However, I was a little disappointed with the food. The Nachos, which is an easy dish to get right, was very light on and very unappealing. There certainly wasn’t enough cheese or topping of any description and unlike most Nachos there wasn’t enough to share. The service was pretty average as well. This could be a a fun place to take the family for a bite to eat but sadly the food is a not as good as most Mexican Restaurants so it would be more for the atmosphere than anything else. Surprisingly this restaurant has lasted a long time even though generally, when I go past it doesn’t look very busy.
