Yum yum yum. That’s what you’ll be saying as you walk out of H&A Coffee House after your next visit to The Bay. Make sure your planned visit is a small, intimate one, and not a larger gathering as you’re most likely going to bump elbows in the small establishment. The first impression was excellent as we were cheerily greeted by the man(who I presume to be the owner/operator) serving from the front counter as soon as we walked in, he handed us menus and allowed us to find a seat we liked. The dessert list was great, as was the coffee list(including coffees with liquor — yum!) and a peppermint coffee that is on my next-to-try list. The cappuccino that I ordered was really tasty, a perfect amount of foam with no bitter over-heated coffee taste. We had the apple, cinnamon & yoghurt crepes which were AMAAAZING! Perfect crepey-ness. Thin but fluffy and not chewey, light and just sweet enough without being too desserty. My only complaint is that I felt the place was a little bit dark, but there is a seat by the front window.

I call in for coffee a few times a week for breakfast — it is now my favorite coffee fix at the Bay. But tonight I have tried their dessert menu for the first time and the pleasures keep coming. From a stunning menu I chose a simple dish of mixed ice creams with fruit in a flared glass. Washed it down with the best Irish coffee topped with an appropriate amount of whipped cream. Then savored the moment with a monster Shiraz from a family owned winery in South Australia’s Fleurieu Peninsula. The proprietors are classy and have put together a classy experience including their friendly service and modern décor. Highly recommended when next visiting Glenelg.
