I went to a few different shops looking for a new bike and wanted some advise as to the best bike to suit my needs. The day I went into Glenelg cycles they were quite busy due to the pre xmas rush etc, but John did a great job of going thru the bikes he thought would be suitable for me, such a good job that I chose a bike right then and there! The staff were definitely the most friendly and helpful –as a woman in my 50’s most guys in the bike shops ignored me or made me feel i shouldnt be there! …also so far the after sales service has been great too, ive taken it back to adjust the seat and buy new equipment etc wouldnt hesitate in recommending them if you need a bike!

I received the 5 star treatment here. Having done some prior research, I had a rough idea of what I wanted. Jake carried out a very thorough bike fitting with me and by the end of that, I knew I was in safe hands and I made my decision. Looking forward to picking up my bike in a few weeks’ time and hitting the road. I’ll be recommending Glenelg Cycles.

The customer service at this often busy store is good and the staff are always happy to help. There are a good range of bicycles for sale and a fairly good range of accessories too. I bought some cool gloves from there upon the advice of one of the shop assistants. The gloves with gel flex were on sale, so I bagged myself a nice bargain. The helmets and bike lights are a reasonable price too. The bicycle workshop runs a repair service and services bicycles for a reasonable fee, and does everything from tyre pressure checks to hanger realignment.

Living in Glenelg you kinda get used to seeing people clad in lycra(whether they should be or not) perched on the thinnest, lightest, most aerodynamic bit of machinery they can possibly buy, that costs as much as a small car. Well, Glenelg Cycles is one of the places that you will find these people drooling over the latest road bike or buying a pair of those clackety shoes that annoy you as they walk in the coffee shops. They have a good range of bikes and bike paraphernalia. In fact I bought my first ever adult bike from them when I was 16 so they have been around for a while. As you have probably guessed by now, I am not part of the lycra clad brigade, but I do love bike riding. I have a «vintage» road bike and I enjoy a fairly decent ride on it. I go to Glenelg Cycles to get my bike serviced or to buy various parts from time to time. The staff are helpful and do a good efficient job. For any other pseudo bike riders, a great tip: they have a foot pump out the front of the shop which is great if you are looking for somewhere to pump up the tyres while you are out and about. Tip: Don’t try and get any maintenance done when the Tour Down Under is on as they are flat out.
