This is my fave pool hall. It’s just the right blend of dingy and… something else I can’t quite put my finger on. I love the fact that you get pool table service for drinks, I even like the music. It always works out to be a reasonable price for quite a few games as well(unless you’re too slow). I also like the bizarre blend of people who come here. There is no discernable common denominator except what they’re all here for — 8 ball. In a nutshell — chalk it up!

In my days of hustling 8 ball and and bouncing 7 rail trick shots while juggling 4 chainsaws and whistling the national anthem, I used to trip the green felt fantastic up at Chalkers. Although I hadn’t been there for a number of years, you never forget the stairwell(why is it that all good pool halls seem to be with up or down stairs?). It is almost like a passageway into a different world, clomping up the stairs and leaving your daily cares behind to smash some poor shmo’s on the challenge table! I haven’t been there ‘on peak’ before, strangely enough the Friday Night Pool Party(hehe) was never my bag, but hey, if it floats your boat you can get suitably sauced up and try your ‘around the back’ shots on some of the ladies. On a side note, what is eveyones perfect drink/skill ratio? Mine is around 4 stubbies, though I do tend to be luckier when I near 8!

Rows of tables are available for hire, at an hourly rate — Pay at the bar as you exit. Attractive 19 years olds walk around with a drink tray, and offer pool table service. Classic Juke Box is the corner pumping out anything from Tuesay night grunge, to Saturday night R and B. There is a large balcony /smoking area overlooking the hype of Jetty Road. There’s a second bar for quicker service if you can’t get a hot blonde to serve you. Standard dress code applies, and it’s dark enough for a blind date opportunity(no pun intended) Art work planetarium style is illuminated across the walls with black lights. I’m a fan.
