average place to dine. Service was ok, Expensive menu with not a great selection. We wanted to find a place we could take the kids for dinner locally. Not really family friendly and food was ordinary. Would of been a frequent customer if it just was of average standards… Will give it another go one day, but not rushing back.

Well, despite living down here in my youth, I never really frequented this place(but then again I wasn’t really a pub person back then, just a buy a six pack and head back home type of person). However, one day when I had a day off I decided I would drag my friend out of bed and come down here for a beer(before heading towards the beach). Well, if there is one thing I like about this place and that is the beer garden. Mind you, it is the beer garden that makes this place more than just your average suburban pub, but then again, if it wasn’t for the beer garden there isn’t much that would cause me to frequent the place(not that I do anyway). They have a restaurant, but it is nothing spectacular, and they only have the standard beers on tap, but still, I do like the beer garden.

Met some friends here for a Saturday lunch as we had heard the food was pretty good. The service was so bad we actually end up laughing about it. Where shall I start. 1. On arrival, no-one to seat us. 2. After seating ourselves and waiting 15 minutes, we had to ask for menus. 3. Went up to bar to place food order. The lass standing behind counter looked as us and went to walk off, but eventually came back. 4. Food(for 4 people) took about 40 mins. There were only 4 tables full, so it wasn’t as if it were busy. The food itself was shocking. I ordered the Asian chicken pieces $ 25. Four chicken wings or thighs about 2 cm long x 0.5 cm wide was served on a bed of rice. The citrus salad was two pieces of orange. The chicken was dry and pretty tasteless. I would have been better off going next door to KFC or Hungry Jacks. At least a $ 5 would not have left me feeling hungry.

The Lockley’s Hotel has changed a lot since the last time I’ve been and perhaps for the better. Amazingly done medium rare steak and the absolutely best zingy avo mayo around. The menu is limited though but everything looked oh so delicious. We also had a starter of Three Cheese bread and it was awesome. Great service and atmosphere, kid friendly as well. A must try :)
