We got burgers… reads the sign, but we ain’t got a watch is what it should read. If you say you open at 5pm, here’s a customer service tip, open at 5pm. Perhaps given the numerous positive reviews, Short Order Burger Co has decided they can afford to adopt a Seinfeldesque Soup Nazi approach to their customer service, however, I beg to differ. The burger was good, fries average and given the out of the way location, I won’t be rushing back. Thumbs down for telling a customer that you will be open in 5 to 10 minutes while you count change. News flash, get to work earlier. Thumbs down for ignoring the two groups of patiently waiting customers while you are clearly ready to take orders and decide to serve instead the third couple that arrives and walks up to the counter. News flash, we were 2 metres away, you could have told us you were ready to take our orders. Methinks someone got out on the wrong side of bed. Newsflash, take a Beroca and get over it love. Your customer service sucks! The friendly chef who handed my burger over could do little to rectify the situation, however, she really should be the one having initial interaction with the public.

I am very fussy, but can’t rave enough about this place. Best beef burgers in Perth without a doubt. My only conplaint is that they aren’t closer to me, however they do have pop ups regularly which I greatly appreciate. I first discovered them at a pop up after following then on Social Media for months, but can assure you it’s worth the trek. The meat patties are the best — top quality beef, with an incredibly soft and juicy texture and an excellent slightly smokey crust. Perfect! The staff and owner are really friendly and clearly have high standards as I watched them craft the burgers to perfection. It is rare to see so much care taken. The prices were on par with Grill’d but SOMUCHBETTER. Extras don’t cost much. Pity there weren’t any sides at the pop up. Even the buns were excellent. All of my blogger friends agree — best in Perth!

My answer to the question of best burger in Perth is easy: Short Order Burger Co. Usually found lurking in The Mantle at the East end of Freo, the occasions where they venture outwards are always worth a look. Short Order Burger Co teamed up with the equally-excellent campus café Grindhouse to celebrate International Burger Day on Saturday with a tribute to the classic Whopper: the WAAPA with cheese, cunningly named after the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts(which also lives at ECU in Mount Lawley). Available for a very limited four hours, we took no chances and arrived shortly after 10am to find the event in full swing and burgers-for-brunch everywhere. A short fire-alarm delay added to the anticipation, but we eventually received our burgers and… well…my pictures can speak for themselves. If you’re in Perth and haven’t tried Short Order Burger Co yet, you should be ashamed. Wherever you are, it’s worth the journey.

My favourite burger bar — it has everything you want. Fluffy, squishy brioche buns that are lightly charred. Juicy, homemade patties. Melted cheese, maple bacon and more. The staff are friendly and fun, and the food made fresh to order. Definitely the best burgers in Perth by a long mile.

OMG! This burger should be called The Awakening because I felt like I had just woke up and tried my first ever burger. Please don’t waste your lifetime not trying a burger from Short Order co. Top 5 all time Visited November 2015

I can’t give to much detail on this particular burger, in terms of the type of cheese that was used etc, other than it was a double chees burger, and that I just had to have one. One thing I can say is their beef is grass fed, you can really taste the difference. Just when you think that a ‘burger’ can’t be engineered any further, Short Order Burger exceed expectations. Best burgers in Perth.

It starts with the location, there’s no denying the thriving atmosphere of The Mantle as a whole is great! As a mature adult, what I love most about this venue — besides the amazing burgers of course — is that it’s BYO(if you’re bringing a bottle of wine, don’t forget to byo plastic cups too though. And don’t snub your nose, they’re $ 3.00 from your local supermarket — or be clever & just bring a 6pk of your fav beer/cider). The buns are deliciously light, slightly sweet and yet story enough to hold all that’s jam packed inside. The meat, ever so slightly rare, chargrilled, always juicy and cooked perfectly. My favourite burger has to be the signature SOB Burger, add bacon. I’m not usually a bacon on burger kinda gal, but you absolutely have to. You have to! And that SOB sauce is better than any Big Mac sauce I’ve ever taste! Napkins required, but you could just totally lick your fingers from any sauce that gets away, you don’t want to waste any of this burger! Don’t forget your sides, chips with the jalapeño sauce all the way, packs a bit of heat. We shared one between two and were quite satisfied with serve size.(One time we got two and there were left overs, it was heartbreaking). The line to order can be long, nut it moves quickly and the burgers are totally worth it. We generally grab a menu, someone scouts a table while one orders. And the burgers come out within the right amount of waiting time. The staff are great! Especially when you see that line wrapping around the sea container and they’re pumping out burgers! Also recommend grabbing your burgers to go, have your 6 pack in the car & head down to east street jetty by the river. You’re welcome. M

I’ve slowly been working my way through the best burger places in Perth, so I had to give Short Order a go after hearing so many great things. They did not disappoint. This bad boy currently sits at the pinnacle of my burger list. I got the Double Original. Do yourself a favour and head down and grab yourself one! Fresh bun. Perfectly melted cheese, juicy meat patties and just the right amount of salad and sauces. Nailed it! Bought some chips and jalapeño mayo. As a whole combo it definitely wasn’t cheap but its all quality. With my low tolerance to spicy things I did get the hiccups so don’t expect the mayo to be mellow! It was truly an out of body experience with the burger perfectly sized for a good meal without making you feel ill from too much This coupled with good service means a place you just want to keep returning to. A heads up that at their busier times it can be a little hectic grabbing a table, but they seem to turnover fairly quickly(particularly the smaller ones, larger tables people seem to linger)

Excellent burgers that are old-school tasting and delicious. The beef was char-grilled and nice and pink on the inside. The salads and sauces went perfectly! Great fries too with a variety of sauces to accompany them. I went for the Double Short Order Burger(two patties, two slices of cheese and salad). It was delicious but tricky to eat and ended up falling apart on me. It’s not first date food, but it’s amazing!

Short menu with quality burgers & chips with a various sauces. On the edge where Fremantle becomes North Fremantle is a burger place in a shed with a dozen burgers that taste delicious. Recommended by a hyped wife we went here for a Sunday Lunch. After ordering we were eating as quickly as ordering from a chain burger place with the best fries(not chips) I’ve had in ages. Burger was in brioche & tastes amazing only negative for me is was I was left hungry — and I ordered the double. Perhaps because my expectations on gourmet burgers is wide as well as tall & these were just tall & normal width. I will probably go again but get my own chips instead of sharing them.

If you’re ever around the Mantle on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday night, Short Order is a must-have for a quality burger. Best part is that it’s BYO! It’s casual picnic bench seating, condiments are set up in six pack beer holders and the burgers come out in a little box like the ones you get when you order a Big Mac at McDonald’s(don’t worry, these burgers are way better than Maccas). We ordered the mac and cheese burger — I repeat, A BURGERWITHMACANDCHEESEINIT. And a slab of bacon to boot. I don’t think this is something they normally make so we made sure to swoop in before they took it off the menu! It was sinfully delicious. We also ordered their classic burger which was all kinds of delicious — meaty beef patty, a slice of cheese, and tomatoes sandwiched between a soft brioche bun. This place always gets packed and sometimes they run out of burgers so get in early!

I’ve been wanting to check them out for a while now but keep missing their opening days of(usually) Thursdays-Saturday evenings. Finally got there and had the Short Order Burger($ 13). The brioche bun was soft. The patty was juicy. The cheese covered everything else. It was amazing. It is really messy to eat because it just fell into a juicy pile of mess quickly but it is worth it. I’m a fan and will be definitely be back! I have heard that the queue can be quite crazy at times, so perhaps time your visit to get there later before they close shop for the day.

In all seriousness, if you haven’t tried a burger(or two or three) from Short Order yet, you need to go NOW! Short Order has changed my whole perspective on burgers forever. I’m not a big meat/carbs/pizza/pasta/dude-food kind of person. But man, I’ll eat a Short Order burger any day! Situated in the back area of The Mantle, this bustling pop up burger bar will be sure to knock your socks off. The Mantle houses other popular pop up eateries such as Don Tapa, Stampede Gelato and Magna Pizza. If you go with an empty stomach(or greedy gut) you could probably knock 2 – 3 things off your food list in one night. One Friday evening, we rounded up a gang of 8 fatties and headed to The Mantle nice and early to ensure we could get a table. This was the best feast we’ve all had in ages! Most of us broke our Short Order virginity that night and it left us wanting more. The burgers came out really quickly and we probably demolished them even quicker. The only thing I could fault was the fries. It was incredibly salted and«limp» haha. I wouldn’t call them soggy fries… just not crispy and«limp». Oh, actually there was something else to fault. One of Hmaphotos’ burgers(yes one of his burgerS) was missing a patty. He didn’t realise it til he almost finished the burger so he ended up eating the patty on its own when he went back to the kitchen to claim it. Moral of the story — check your burger fillings before you eat it! We are all convinced that Short Order burgers are worth driving to Fremantle for!
