The bar inside the Mantle tucked away in the corner, friendly bar staff that are knowledgeable about thier spirits, had a great old fashioned here(my favourite) with Ron zacapa and another with the house rum matalua which was a new one both were very well balanced.

Cool spot for a sunday sesh in Fremantle on a day where its pouring down with rain! Definitely recommend coming here if you want to be at a place where you can talk(not too noisy) and places to sit. Hadn’t been to the Mantle in a while and decided to drop by with some friends. Nice vibe with dimmed lighting. The bar man was super energetic, attentive and helpful with our drinks order. Had the elderflower cocktail and chacuterrie board which were delicious!

Stopped here for a coffee on a quiet and hot Saturday afternoon. For somewhere that is so cool(the Mantle in general), I was surprised at how empty it was. The coffee was good and the service was friendly. At 3.30pm we could fit in a pram with no worries. There is ample seating. We chose to come to this place as the girl walked up to us and asked us if we wanted to have a coffee or something to eat. I hope this place fills up at night and during Sunday sesh as it is really cool and I’m sure it would have a better atmosphere.

Nice place. Did not try a cocktail which is what it seems to be all about. $ 12 for a glass of tempranillo that was ‘room temperature’ — 28 degrees. Undrinkable. News, guys, ‘room temperature ’ is 18 degrees. The fumes were coming off this wine. Had a glass of reisling — temperature just right. Beer perfect.

Alter Ego is the only bar at the collaborative space, The Mantle. Located in the back right of the warehouse, it’s quite easy to miss the bar unless you’re looking for it. I was really surprised and impressed with the bartenders and their creations. I guess I had foolishly presumed that being in laid-back Freo, and at a collaborative space, that the bartenders would take their role a little less seriously than those in the City bars. Boy was I wrong. Their drinks list is very extensive(see my photos), and I’m sure they could whip you up anything your heart desired that wasn’t on their list too. I has the Blood Orange Whiskey Sour and it was perfection on the warm summer’s night. Prices reflect the high-quality ingredients and special touches included in the drinks, with my cocktail costing $ 20. Keep up the great work!
