Most of the other reviews here nail the vibe of this place; great staff who are nice to chat to(and who seem to know everybody in town) and a million racks of clothes to explore. Since moving to this location, they seem to be stocking more and more furniture and household knickknacks as well, so there’s always something tempting to spend my cash on. Lick also houses a great CD rack full of some of the best local releases(to make full disclosure, this includes some of mine) and is the best place outside of Mills to get local discs in Fremantle. «Lick The Wall» is actually two spaces; Lick is the clothing store and then at the back of the shop is The Wall, a gallery space run by the owners. This is a great place to see some of Fremantle’s emerging visual art talent and pick up a bargain for your house. If you’re planning a shopping trip around Fremantle, a stop here is an absolute must. It’s full of oldschool Fremantle charm and you’ll probably find yourself going home with something unique and charming.

Hmm, lick was promising from the outside and the further into it I got, the bigger the void it left. Greeted by a man sitting on a stool next to the counter and a chocolate brown, bambi eyed puppy, my heart melted a little bit.. . the treasure hunting declined gradually from there. shoes, bags, bling– check– anything retro-lutionary.. . not for me.. . the polaroid cameras– BING! $ 120 ouch! The racks, puffy sleeves, high waisters and smock frocks– check.. . pieces of gold? few and far between. There wasn’t an inviting vibe and the shop appeared to be more filled with trash then treasure– maybe my rose coloured glasses were fogged up but as I got to the end of the fashion section, it opened up into a miscellaneous, lounge room/reading space with changerooms who’s décor can best be described as confused? An interesting choice of display, there was construction out the back and the woman, who I presume worked there, almost pushed me over on her way to the counter and discussing the garage sale her daughter was having. There was some nice stuff, but I wouldn’t encourage anyone to have high hopes for this place, it’d be a quick dash– snatch–(pay) — and run. Lick-ety-split!

I love Lick; it’s unique, surprising and bursting with funky vintage fashion. I find something I like every time I go in, and with most things around $ 50 – 70, I don’t feel too guilty about getting it! The people who work here are friendly and really passionate about the clothes, which is always nice to see. There’s a room at the back full of interesting furniture and art, and a couple of bicycles double as clothes rails. Last time I was in here there was a little dog wandering around — not sure whose it was, but it was adorable! See what I mean about it being surprising?

If your lucky you will find something fabulous at Lick, something completely unique, vintage and cheap(for vintage style); but that is on the rare occasion. For most of us, Lick is a great store to flick through the racks, hoping to come across something our hearts skip a beat for, yet we generally get to the last few pieces and feel like it was a waste of time. Many of the things in the store are simply old and over priced and you could find in any Good Sammies for about $ 10, whereas Lick make it seem wicked and funky and put the price up to $ 70. I’m all for vintage pieces, however most of Lick’s are just a little too far and are for those who take contemporary fashion to a hole new level.

Do you ever wonder how cool it would be if you had a joint where you could sell your second hand of self-designed clothing within a really funky place? Or maybe you’re a budding street artist and you want to hang your stuff somewhere that draws an eclectic crowd of creative folk. Somewhere along the lines someone decided that this was a really smart idea well worth executing and Lick Clothing was born. Although they used to sell new threads, Lick is now one of Fremantle’s top vintage shops. How it works is like this — you grab your clothes and hire a rack for $ 75, work a 4 hour shift and then give the ladies of Lick 20% of your earrings. Pretty sweet deal! I always find like 5 things in here I want, like Gucci blouses, patchwork leather back packs and random nick nacks. You’re fairly spoiled for choice here and the shop is always overflowing with both mens’ and womens’ fashion Sometimes they even have events in the back room which are loads of fun! The chick from Fi and Co works here too so you’re in for some entertainment whilst shopping. Some of the vendors don’t take eftpos so make sure you check the tag first for payment details.

The majority of vintage clothing stores in Perth are ridiculously overpriced, Lick however is not. They seem to embrace the theory that fashion should be fun, which I am a strong believer in. No pretentious staff which is always refreshing. I bought the most amazing white and blue sequin dress here and got a billion compliments on it. The range of shoes was good, but as with most vintage stores the shoe sizes were on the small size — how have peoples feet grown so much over the years?! The average item price is around $ 60, which is fantastic value. Definitely one to check out when in the Freo area.
