The Kidogo Gallery is housed in a lovely quaint stone building overlooking bathers beach in Fremantle. The building is definitely more rustic than modern even though many of the piece on display are of a contemporary nature. They also hire out gallery space complete with staff and professional assistance. I have to say it wasn’t until recently that I wandered in here. Maybe it was because for the last 2 years the sign on the top alluded me as it blends in with the sky. Kidogo is also an institute providing a variety of regular classes for adults and children alike. It is a very cultured space that should not be taken lightly, defitnitely go in for a wander the next time you’re making your way to the beach.

Kidogo Arthouse was founded by Joanna Robertson out of a passion to display beautiful local art and encourage those in the community to find their passion for various forms of art. It is situated on Bathers Beach and has the most stunning and inspiring views, a perfect location. The gallery itself is spacious and filled with stunning paintings, there is a little white room which you step through the wall into to discover more art to see. Round the back is the canvas filled, paint splattered, creative mess of the classroom. It has windows that frame the ocean and you’ll find enough bench space to spread out your ideas. Joanna runs various art programs including an Aboriginal Art Program, Cert III&IV in Visual Arts, an Arts Scholarship Program, Life Drawing Classes and a Children’s Art Program. There is a class available for anybody who wants to add to their artistic skills. The Arthouse hosts many events from poetry readings, to nights for their exhibitions and it is available to hire for any kind of event you like. It is a great venue to use for a party, wedding reception, or special occassion, the stone building is light, spacious and inspiring. If you’re in Fremantle for the day go and have a peek inside.
