Moseyed on down here yesterday to get away from the Laneway Festival crowds and experience the newest ‘pop up’ in Freo-town… First impression walking through the only whaling tunnel towards Bathers Beach is a good one, the suns drifting behind the ocean and the DJ tunes are wafting towards you. Location is A– for Awesome. The DJ playing with the beach in the background in half shipwrecked half kerbside collection is cool. but. Walking into the warehouse, amazing, I’ve never seen doors that size. But I’m sorry to say the service was unhappy(maybe they wish they were at Laneways) and pretty unhelpful. We remarked that it was our first visit and asked a few questioned which were met with disinterest and engagement. At one point ordering a vodka lemon lime and a bitters(because they’d run out of soda water) we had to ask for ice in the glass, and the response was ‘yeah, we might have some, but we’ve been running out all day’. Anywho. I still like what they are trying here and will be back, hopefully when there’s more of a crowd to build the atmosphere and service standard. Lucky the backdrop and location is to die for…(pop for a swim at Bather’s before a beer and fish taco) because the outside décor really needs a misdirection. featuring clothes lines, kids towels, camouflage netting and far more pallets than you can poke a Pinterest stick at.
