Great shoe stores are now few and far in between in this part of the city. This was not always the case, but now if you’re looking for a good pair of boots, it’s pretty much here or Bodkin’s Bootery around the corner. They have a large women’s shoes section, which I’m sure is great, but I’m only able to vouch for the quality of the men’s shoes. They are completely kickarse. They sell a great range of boots and shoes that often have quirky additions that make them must-buy items. The other reviewers are right about the vibe of this place, it’s fun just to be in, so it’s worth checking out what they’ve got on sale just for the novelty factor alone.

I love this place more for its looks and interior design than the things it sells. The layout of the shop looks really American something that would have been found in the 1950’s with the big fluro sign at the back of the store. The shoes themselves, whilst having quite an extensive range, are disappointing. It is one of my mothers favourite shoe shops, but it doesn’t really do it for me.

Perhaps I caught Bob’s on a bad day? I’m not a MASSIVE shoes and handbags girl(this may have something to do with the limited selection of sizes available with size 11 feet?) but thankfully, perhaps due to the crossdressing men in the world, I am occassionaby able to find girly shoes that fit. I’v been to the Bobs’ in Broome and loved it. This Fremantle store was slightly smaller, no worries, I’m a quality not quantity person– I love the styles,(even though they ignite in me a slight resentment to the people with pixie sized feet in the world who can wear them,) and the merchandising is always retro funky! The prices are up there but can you pu a price on the happiness shoes bring? If the service is up there and the experience is good then I think it’s jusified. Unfortunately, the service was super average– wish I’d been greeted by a happy go lucky Bob advocate(or anyone really) but the two girls on were completely consumed with their own chat. I’m sure if I’d approached them they would have helped, but I entertained myself wondering how a size 6 shoe got into the glass bottles on display. .. perhaps there’s hope for me yet?!

Bob’s is the kind of shoe shop which caters to almost everyone; it has a wide variety of styles, brands and prices, all laid out in a big open space so it’s easy to find what you’re after. Good old Bob doesn’t limit himself to shoes though; he’s got accessories covered too. There are some really lovely handbags and purses at the back of the shop, which in my opinion are the best things in there. I don’t know if the cheery man who welcomes me from behind the counter is the eponymous Bob, but whoever this Bob character is, he seems to be a bit of a joker — a sign on the wall proclaims ‘children left unattended will be sold as slaves’. Ho ho. Good old Bob.
