Located in Bakery Lane, Mi and Mia is a hole-in-the-wall gem from the makers of Fat Dumpling. Focused on traditional Chinese food Mi and Mian offers a small range noodle and rice dishes. We ordered the chicken noodle soup, prawn fried rice, pork spring roll, and prawn, pork and chives lu bao. The lu bao was definitely the stand out dish — highly recommended. The spring rolls are exactly those that they serve at Fat Dumpling, however they are single servings at Mi and Mian. The noodle and rice dishes were bland, which is disappointing considering that is their main offering. I find Bakery Lane itself to have a bit of a weird feel to it. Half clothing stores, half bars/food — it has an empty feeling during the day when the bars/food places are closed, and an empty feeling at night when the clothing stores are closed. As a result Mi and Mian has a bit of an awkward ‘what are we doing here’ kind of vibe… BUT this is a run-off of Bakery Lane rather than the restaurant itself. Note there is minimal seating and therefore is probably not the best place to take a large group. This visit was on their second night of business, so I would definitely go back to see if the rice and noodle dishes have improved. Updated review coming soon.
