Been here heaps. Great place. Very affordable food with large portions. Tasty. Lovely service. I wish they would update their décor though. Old seats and out dated colours. They have $ 2 gaming machines, pool and do karaōke. I haven’t the done the karaōke but I sometimes sneak in to use their bathrooms when I’m in the valley ;) Also I wouldn’t believe people who complain about MSG. There is no scientific evidence about people who get MSG«hangovers» –only anecdotal. Also just because something is salty doesn’t mean its MSG, it might just be salt. I don’t know whether they have MSG in their food or not. You’ll have to ask them. If your looking for a delicious restaurant style cheap eat this is the place! Great for groups.

After a few drinks we stopped in to grab a quick bite. Opted for some kinda fried beef and fried rice — clearly fried food is the way to go. I was throughly unimpressed with the fried rice… it didn’t seem as though it had actually been fried… kind of strange. Of course many people were here drinking — you can BYO, and people had bottles of full on spirits, not just wine or beer so they were getting on it. Not my scene.

This place is random. Heaps of Asians, so you’d think«good local knowledge», but no. The menu’s were sticky and gross. Not cheap, avg for china town but not great. $ 3 corkage with a minimum $ 10 spend. Toilets had a bucket of soap??! Avoid!

This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in Brisbane. Ive been here a half dozen times in the 3 times over 9 years that I either lived in or visited Brisbane. Complete with great food, tons of open pool tables, and a feeling that youve stumbled into a back alley dive that only the natives eat at, this place is a constant destination for me when I get the chance to go back to Oz.

At first glance I was unsure about what I walked into. Although they do serve food here, it’s also a pool hall/karaōke/arcade games all in one place. I haven’t tried any of those yet personally however I have been here a few times to try out the food. The food here while cheap is tasty. I tried the special fried rice which was served in a gigantic portion and was quite good. The service is quite poor here however as they mainly speak chinese/mandarin and it’s the typical kind of service you can expect at an Asian restaurant. It’s a nice spot for a quick meal or take-away as long as you don’t mind crappy service. Oh and it does get quite busy here on weekend nights when people are heading to the bars/clubs in Fortitude Valley.

This is the second time we’ve been to Cyber City 2002 and I have not been impressed either time. Last time we went for karaōke with some friends. The machine was difficult to use, which pretty much ruined the experience, and the staff were rude and extremely unhelpful. The one upside was that they let us have our money back for the second hour, so we left early. This time, we went for a(very belated) work Christmas/New Years/Birthday party. Despite our friends telling us there was heaps we could eat on the menu, almost all of the vegetable dishes had meat in them, so we ended up just making something up. I order noodles with mixed vegetables and satay sauce and, though the meal was tasty, the«sauce» was a broth, and had absolutely nothing in common with satay sauce. And no wonder it was so tasty BECAUSEITWASLOADEDUPTOTHEHILTWITHMSG. I know we always joke about«haha, it’s so tasty because it has MSG in it», but I don’t think I’ve ever seriously had a meal with this much MSG in it. I had a bite of a friend’s salt and pepper tofu and literally gagged and nearly vomited because it was so salty. The drinks are: tea, coffee, crushed ice, and beer. And yes, it’s $ 5 for a huge bottle of beer, but if you hate beer(like I do), a Lift doesn’t really cut it. A friend and I played two of the shooter games(which I’ve never played before) and they were fine, though the machine claimed in one part it only takes $ 2 coins and on another part that i only takes $ 1 coins. I swapped all my $ 2 coins for $ 1 coins at the desk; the staff member sitting behind it didn’t even look at me. Good to know customer service isn’t dead. The real kicker was, despite the fact that the only drink I had all night was a Lift and heaps of water, I’ve woken up this morning with a horrific MSG hangover. And I don’t even get alcohol hangovers. Though the food was tasty enough, I’ve had much better elsewhere and I can’t think of one other redeeming feature that would make me come back. Suffice to say, I think that was the last time I’ll ever go to Cyber City 2002.

I had the lunch deal/special, which was cheap but quite disappointing. I wouldn’t pay for their specials, as they were just ok, and nothing too special. Their real hot food might be good, but it doesn’t really appeal to me much. They seem to have arcade games and karaōke? but I don’t know if I’ll be returning soon.

I ate here the other day and it was awesome! Not only was the food delicious but the service was quick– we received our meals literally 5 minutes after placing our order! Some people may find the quirky décor a bit odd, but I find that it adds to the charm.

Drop in for a game of pool and a drink, and some really well-priced Asian food. It is rather time warpish, but hey, bring back the noughties.

In the five years that I’ve lived in Brisbane, Cyber City has been my most surprising find. Despite the fact that sometimes the food may not be up to scratch(yes, they’re served in gigantic servings that are large enough to feed up to three people, but you’d probably find fresher ingredients at other restaurants in Chinatown), there is more than enough at Cyber City to make up for that. From the claw machines that are actually functional(that is, winning is possible), to the comfortable pastel seats, to the semi-abandoned arcade in the back, to the Tsingtao tallies for dirt cheap, Cyber City is a winner. You’d come here for the atmosphere more than the food, but if you’re dining in my picks include the Hong Kong style milk tea, which has a very sweet condensed milk flavour, and the special fried rice, which is served in a mountainous pile. I’d avoid the water jugs if possible — the cups don’t look like they’ve been washed properly, and when you get a glimpse into the kitchen(sweaty chefs, a mess of vegetables and noodles on the countertops) you can’t help thinking that sometimes ignorance is bliss. As you make your way to the arcade area you’ll get a glimpse into the closed off karaōke booths, and hear the faint echos of young men belting out some Cantopop tunes. It’s an odd place that transports you straight out of Brisbane and into the backstreets of Hong Kong.

Cyber City is so awesome! The meals are dirt cheap and are huge servings. They sell tall bottles of TsingTao, and they even let you BYO. We booked for a big group and everyone brought eskies with their own drinks. The Salt & Pepper Calamari($ 12.90) is always a favourite of the night, I can highly recommend ordering that one to share between everyone. Watch out vegetarians, the menu is a bit crazy. There are dishes with meat under the Bean Curd/Vegetables section of the menu. Rather than it being a vegetarian only section, it lists the dishes that have bean curd/tofu and vegetables, even if they also have meat in them. It still cracks me up to this day, why they would name the restaurant Cyber City 2002… It sounds like they were trying to be futurist with their naming but now it just dates the place. But I love it anyway! After you stuff yourself on delicious food, head over the arcade games or skill testers and try your luck. There is also a karaōke room there, but last time I went on a Friday night it was all booked out. So get in early!

I went to Cyber City on a Friday night to meet my sibs for a going away party. Now, every time I’d met them in the Valley after they’d been to Cyber City they’d be really drunk and occasionally talking about karaōke. Naturally, I figured it was a karaōke bar and therefore enjoyed an intimate Japanese dinner with my husband beforehand where I stuffed myself. Whoops. Turns out Cyber City is everything to everyone. It serves booze, has hilarious arcade games dotted around(including crap loads of the ones with claws and stuffed toys), is a pool hall and has karaōke rooms. Oh, and it’s a banging Chinese restaurant. So I sat there with my $ 8 tallie of Tsingtao and watched enviously as people ate great food around me. Everyone seemed pretty happy, and I was particularly impressed to see white cloud ear fungus in my friends vegetarian lohan. This venue is dingy and a bit grubby, and the service is hysterical(they just dump food on your table and run away, we ended up with half of next door’s meals until we forcibly managed to grab someone) but I fricking love this joint. I will definitely be back, and am trying to arrange the dream of a team mid week day off where we’ll eat salt and pepper squid while playing pool in an empty restaurant before retiring for a spot of booze soaked karaōke I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s also a convenience store in here somewhere.

Cyber city is pretty incredible compared to the other places around the Valley. I’m not really sure who it’s meant for, but it seems to appeal to either a) comic book readers b) arcade video game lovers c) Chinese food lovers. I tick all these boxes, so it’s pretty boss place for me. It’s also incredibly, super cheap and perfect if you just want a place to pre-game it before heading to a proper bar, night club or gig. There’s table service and everyone is incredibly friendly, which is great. They’ve also got an amazing selection of odd beers and drinks — there’s seriously some things I’ve never seen before. They have a peach ice-tea which is incredible. If you’re into takeaway, it’s a pretty great place too. I was able to score an entire container of fried rice for $ 7. Not too shabby.

When my friends first walked me into 2002 Cyber City, I had no idea where they were taking me. Tucked away in the little Chopstick Arcade in the Valley, this Chinese Restaurant /Karaōke Bar /Pool Hall /Games Arcade has it all. When I walked inside, the place looked so cheap and tacky that I knew the food must be good in order for people to even come here. And oh is the food good! I dined away on the Salt and Pepper Squid, Pork Belly, and some beef dish I can’t quite remember the name of but would recommend to anyone. I can’t state enough how good the food is. You will just have to go there. For $ 50 my two friends and I were all feed til our stomachs nearly burst and there was still some leftovers. Open late, 2002 Cyber City is great for a late night drunken feast as well, and you can happily get a beer or two with your meal. While there on a Tuesday night, I noticed some eager youths battling out on the pools tables, drunken suits singing Karaōke, numerous groups feasting, and the staff handling all of this with ease. I have no idea what this place would look like on a busier night of the week, but I know I will soon be back to find out.
