Dello Mano

Love love love this place! Bien and Deb run a terrific little café! Great ambience and great service. The brownies are amazing!!! Don’t take a big bite out of them like a regular bakery brownie. Take it slow and enjoy every crumb… You will love it ;)

For someone who doesn’t really like brownies I was really impressed with them. Definitely live up to the reputation. The food was good. Overall the place is decent, unfortunately the coffee let me down.

For obvious reasons, I couldn’t wait to try Dello Mano’s brownies that everyone in Brisbane was raving about. Upon approaching the café, I was pleased to see the cute storefront had a short line of people eager to grab a brownie… or two, or three. As we entered the shop, we were greeted with a warm smile from the employee behind the counter (she was lovely). My eyes scanned the place and spotted some marvelous looking cakes, an intriguing blackboard with the menu and small square packages with shiny wrapping. And then it hit me — the brownies are pre-​made, wrapped and refrigerated and not served fresh. I felt a little gypped that we weren’t going to be served a brownie fresh out of the oven, but rather a brownie that has been hanging out in a fridge, wrapped in a package with an expiration date on it. From that moment on, the hype and majesty of Dello Mano’s brownies was turned down a notch. However, I was still eager to try these famous brownies and eagerly anticipated the first bite! At last, a chilled brownie was pulled out of the fridge and arrived to our table with a complimentary assortment of brownie bits, which I thought was a lovely gesture.
We unwrapped the brownie and couldn’t help but notice it looked more like fudge than a brownie as it was very dense. The taste was good — I cannot and will not fault the taste of the brownie we tried, which was the classic brownie. We were a bit disappointed, and perhaps that was our fault since we set our hopes up very high, which may have been unreasonable. I think we assumed we would have experienced a magical brownie encounter like never before, where unicorns leap over rainbows and the sky rains down candy.
The fact is — it’s a cute place, it’s an iconic Brisbane spot, it’s a place with friendly service and a place you must try despite the fact they charge you $ 5.50 for a single serving of a pretty good brownie.

Long treasured as one of my favourite brownie haunts and they definitely know how to make a decent yummy latte.
This morning, I gave one of my closest locals a chance to shine for an impromptu group breakfast as I’d never had the chance to taste their culinary skills past their rich brownie goodness.
Whilst, the service was friendly and mainly accommodating, table service might have worked a little better possibly for our larger group.
Once the food came out it was suitably delicious, but didn’t deliver to brownie expectations. I had the Persian Eggs with haloumi & dukka. Was ok, but was missing out on a little bit seasoning and favours… Salt & pepper very much needed and perhaps a little extra bread for dipping.
Everyone left satisfied, but not amazed by the breakfast fare.

Sugar, spice, everything nice. these brownies are it! Bordering on the edge of being fudge, these brownies are very rich and soft. A great combination of chocolate, butter, and perhaps a few secret ingredients (I’m guessing Love)!

I super really super like Dello Mano. Back in the days I was working for radio, I worked with a gentleman who discovered them in the Brisbane Markets and tasted their treats with promise.
Fast forward to the future, they were the treats we packed in all the celebrity thank you for visiting our radio station bags, getting the name out there — and boy were they loved. I have ordered these brownies for all my midwives and doctors after giving birth in hospital, all my friends for their birthdays and oh my goodness myself on special occassions. They have never let me down.
They take special care in packing the deliveries as well into a cold foam box so you get the product in pristine condition… and might I say, they taste awesome once you get them in the fridge. I love these guys, the service, the people, the food… always a pleasure to review.

I would be shocked if a bad word could ever be spoken about Dello Mano.
Hot chocolate. AMAZING.
Brownies. AMAZING.
If you go, you must get a brownie (or ten), I feel like it should be an obligation rather than a recommendation. I have tried about 6 different flavours and I am yet to find one that I would shy away from!
Now, if only they delivered… ;)

Dello Mano’s Dogget St café has been open for just over a year and they have just expanded the café, taking over some of the space from next door. It’s a gorgeous space, great for catching up with friends or meetings.
The staff are always friendly and welcoming and the brownies are irresistible. I often buy them as gifts because everyone seems to love them. They also travel really well so I often send them overseas for Christmas.
Their product range has expanded as well to include cookies, chocolate granola, chocolate
’salami’ rolls, rocky road and panaforte.

Dello Mano are somewhat of a Brisbane icon, you could say. Their brownies are said to be the best for miles (heck, even Ashton Kutcher wanted a piece of this chocolaty cube sensation). Teamed with their signature hot chocolate, the honey and macadamia brownie was the perfect companion on a rainy afternoon.
Don’t fight the call of the Dello Mano song (most likely from their Doggett Street café) just accept that in order to be a true ‘Brisbanite’ you have to have tried these brownies at least once.

This is *not* just a brownie. This is a luxurious experience of other-​worldly, dense, moist, chocolaty-​perfection that transcends any other. This is… This is…
Let’s just say I’ve never paid attention to that age old question of whether chocolate is better than sex… until now.

You know those moments when, in fits of enthusiasm and healthy-​thinking, you swear off sugar? I’ve had about a bazillion of those moments this year alone, and the thing most likely to bring my resolutions crashing to the ground is a Dello Mano brownie.
Perfection. Rich, moist, chocolatey, wrapped in foil perfection. And now they’re found in the –oh-​so-​European café in Doggett Street, they’re backing it up with great coffee and their trademark personal service.
You might think $ 5 a brownie is expensive — ok, it is — but it’s worth it for the quality. go on — you deserve it.

It really wasn’t that long ago when Commerical Rd was scary industrial land. No longer people, and the proof is in the Dello Mano brownie.
You know something’s gotta be amazing when there’s essentially a whole shop dedicated to it, and the brownies here are definitely that.
Yes, they are $ 5 per brownie, but as someone who cooks rather often I can assure you that the ingredients in that brownie alone make up the majority of the price. Couveture chocolate is NOT cheap people, and when it’s teamed with generous amounts of crisp macadamia nuts I’m there.
Also, I can walk away (just) after eating one brownie, but if I made a batch of these at home I’d have to eat the whole tray. So if you look at it like that Della Mano is almost helping you lose weight!

Dello Mano has only been in the new Doggett Street location since the end of November 2011, but it already seems to have quite a following. It was 1:30pm on a Monday and there were a number of people sitting inside enjoying a coffee and brownie treat.
There are free brownie tastings, so I suggest you look confused and ponder the menu for a while so you get to try something for free!
There’s seating inside as well as a few seats outside on the pavement, where you can sip your coffee or hot chocolate and nibble on a delicious brownie.
Dello Mano also does gift boxes of their brownies which are a decadent treat.

So my friend dragged me to Dello Mano a few weeks ago a few days before I was due to be a bridesmaid. There was a bridesmaid dress to fit into and I’d been trying to ‘watch my figure’ as the old people say. I was determined to just have a coffee or cold drink and avoid baked goods of any kind. ‘Ashton Kutcher gets Dello Mano brownies shipped over to him in the USA’ my friend told me as we walked down Doggett street. She lives nearby and had been extolling the virtues of Dello Mano’s brownies to me for weeks since they opened near her place and I was a little hesitant to put myself in the path of temptation.
As soon as we entered the little corner shop that houses Dello Mano I knew this was going to be tricky. The place smells like liquid chocolate. Oh my god. ‘I’ll get a table’ I mumble to my friend, darting over to a corner table where I can sit down before my knees collapse at the deliciousness of the smell and where I won’t have to look inside the cabinet. When my friend orders my skinny flat white for me I can hear the owner incredulously clarifying with my friend that I don’t want a brownie. ‘Just the coffee’, I hear her telling him. Because this friend of mine is such a lovely, supportive girl she’s decided to join me in solidarity and just get a coffee too.
When the owner brings our coffees over he flashes us a mischievous grin and returns with a ‘taste’ for us. He sets down a plate of little pieces of various brownie varieties. Uh oh. To resist brownies from the other side of a glass cabinet is one thing, but how can I not try them when he’s brought them over and put them right in front of me. ‘I’ll have a salad for dinner’ I vow to myself as I sample the delicious squares of chocolate-​y goodness. They seriously are amazing brownies. Just as we’re about to leave he brings us a taste of their new coconut and kahlua truffles. OMG. I think I’ll be having salad for dinner for the rest of my life as long as Dello Mano is around.

Do me a favour and go right now to Dello Mano’s new chocolate kitchen on Doggett Street and wrap your laughing gear around one of their delectable luxury brownies. Right now people! I’ve tasted their brownies before but it had been way too long between joyful mouthfuls, so as soon as I heard they had opened a new shop/​café in the Valley, I made it my business to check it out.
Their new store is gorgeous. With the perfect combination of good coffee and even better chocolate, where could they have gone wrong? There were even samples being given out! I had to restrain myself from snatching the tasting plate from the girl’s hands and running down the street stuffing my face like Augustus Gloop.
At $ 5 for a small rectangle, you initially might think the prices are a bit steep, but when you taste the brownies, you’ll understand why. It was a rookie error on my part thinking I could get through more than one. I did my very best to get through the classic chocolate AND the honey and caramelised macadamia, but I completely overestimated my abilities. One rich little parcel is the perfect portion for a special little treat to yourself.
