Description

Specialties

Café, Espresso Bar and Coffee Roastery servicing North NSW, QLD, and NT

History

Established in 2002.

Campos Coffee, as it is today, began in 2002. We purchased a tiny coffee business in the back lanes of Newtown, Sydney with one purpose– to create an establishment where every customer could be sure to receive an excellent coffee experience every single visit. All of us had been in the industry for quite some time– we had seen what happens when others cut corners to save a dollar– quality suffers, the company makes 2% more in profits, and focus is lost forever. Nothing could be depended upon and there was little integrity. We felt it was time to raise the espresso bar using this unrelenting focus to never compromise on anything.

Always updating, and always on the lookout for improvements– our work is never done here. If we are to be the cutting edge, we must never stop moving forward. This is a very exciting, young industry. Continuous improvement is a necessity and we are constantly upgrading our methods.

Meet the Business Owner

John R.

Business Owner

John first became involved in coffee while studying at university. Once he completed his degree he went on to work in the area of politics and public policy, while still having a second job as a barista. While saving for a trip overseas, he was informed of a run down café in Springwood about to close down. Instead of taking the trip, he took on the café. With the savings he had, a loan, and maxed out credit card, he opened ‘Caffé Veneto’, a reference to the region of Italy where his family comes from. It was soon after that John became involved in the Australian Speciality Coffee Association, where he became the QLD convenor, organiser for the QLD Barista Championships, and gained Judging certification at both State and National Level.
