Prego abides in a fairly austere environment with muted décor and little in the way of adornments. While aesthetics don’t determine your dining experience, they can certainly enhance it. Our group of 5 was here to celebrate a birthday, and the birthday girl assured us her old favourite Prego would deliver the goods as far as quality dining goes. Many a good thing comes in plain packaging, right? We opted for glasses of Prosecco all round, followed later by various wines by the glass at reasonable prices. A limited selection, but with some good options. We were given a complimentary plate of Mediterranean falafel to start with. Covered with a creamy garlic mayo type of hummus and a tomato onion salsa, the falafel was moist and tasty and a well received starter. The salmon carpaccio was a hit at our table too, with its avocado salsa and strips of tender octopus adorning the plate. Hooray for duck! Prego’s version was crispy skinned and slow roasted, and accompanied by green beans, a jus and baked polenta. Succulent meat inside and crispy, mild-spiced skin outside, the duck was lip smackingly good. Oh my wordy lordy. There’s not much I love more than a superbly cooked duck dish, and this one met all the criteria. Two of our group opted for the huge meaty plates of roast lamb shoulder and roast duck, which neither of them could finish. Murmurings of approval for the slow cooked duo, but the protein overload on those massive plates had them wanting something green or orange to break up those hunks of meat. There’s only so much protein you can eat, especially when you’re ladies :) Chocolate fondant was the unanimous choice for dessert. Accompanied by vanilla bean ice-cream, the fondant was appropriately oozy and a fitting end to a fine meal. Service at Prego was uniformly charming and efficient. Italian accents always add charm to the occasion, and you’ve got to love that Italian waiters take their craft so seriously. Food, after all, is a serious matter. Prego is about traditional Italian ingredients cooked with love and pizzazz, served with pride in a simple setting. Prices aren’t cheap here, but the old saying«you get what you pay for» holds true.

Birthday of 6. Went with my family on Tuesday 18⁄11. Excellent staff, excellent food, quite pricy. The staff are accommodating and well rehearsed and knowledgeable with the menus, It is pricy, but there are no complains because the food was of superb quality and cooked perfectly. Thank you so much for making my birthday such an excellent night!

Very good, somewhat fancy Italian-Mediterranean fusion cuisine in the burbs! Our group of six sampled a range of dishes from the menu, with the carpaccio and chicken tortolloni with truffles as the highlights. All of the mains looked and tasted great, with both the grilled lamb and duck as the standouts. The only let down was the somewhat less than efficient service. We had to flag down a server for our order and top up of drinks. Still, a great all rounder for a celebration or romantic dinner!

Prego definitely falls into the ‘swish’ category of dining. We were met by very attentive(albeit not terribly friendly) staff who showed us to our table. Booking is essential as all the tables were full but the vibe of the restaurant didn’t feel particularly busy. The specials never seem to appeal to me but they all sounded very interesting — there were so many and they were described in such depth that it was difficult to remember them all however. The beef carpaccio was great and the spatchcock and tiger prawns main was fantastic. Tiger prawns may have been a tad salty but it wasn’t a deal breaker. Overall if you’re looking for a no expense spared, fine dining experience Prego is definitely worth trying.

As it was a Saturday night, all the tables in Prego were occupied but luckily we have made a booking which I will advice you to do too. We were greeted with enthusiastic and friendly staff and were seated in our tables not long upon entering. For our entrée, we ordered the Homemade Bread($ 4.70), Italian Sausage and Olive plate($ 9.90) and also the Seafood Plate($ 23.90), which was one of the specials. The homemade bread was very soft and blends well with the italian sausage and the olives. The seafood plate we had was fresh, very well executed and full with flavour. The mains arrived not long after our entrée and my parents had the specials. Mum had the Duck Special($ 37.90) and dad had the lamb shoulder($ 39.90) which was cooked for 8 hours. When their dishes arrived I was given a free salad because my main did not come out just in time but I didn’t mind the wait. Not long after they brought out my parents’ mains, they brought out my main which was the Piccata($ 35.50). We also ordered a side dish which was the roasted potatoes with rosemary($ 8.50). Overall our mains were equally as good as each other. The duck my mum had was very tender and juicy. The lamb shoulder was soft and tender and the meat came off the bone easily because it was slow cooked for a long time, making a perfect and hearty winter dish! I had the Piccata, the veal medallion which was also tender, cooked to perfection and bursting with flavour with every bite of it. Our sides, the roast potatoes with rosemary was very good and fragrant with a hint of rosemary. To finish off our dinner, we had the desserts. Mum ordered the Dessert Special($ 15.90) and the baklava was very good which blended quite well with the ice cream. I had the Delizie di Sorbetti($ 11.50) which is a trio of sorbet in a terrine. It was a very refreshing and fruity dessert that will not make you feel overly full. My dad actually ordered the Crème Caramel which was one of the dessert specials but was told that they had ran out of it. So instead of the Crème Caramel, he ordered the Berry Tart($ 14.90). Before the waiter brought out the Berry Tart, he also brought out the last plate of the Crème Caramel which was on the house! We had a taste test on the Crème Caramel and it was amazing! I would say this is one of the best Crème Caramel that I have actually tried in Perth! The Berry Tart dad had was also as good as the other desserts and it was very fruity in flavour and not too sweet. Overall, my parents and I really enjoyed our dinner in Prego and we will definitely be back in the future! Highly recommended for good food, superb and friendly service and the great atmosphere. And also, parking is not a hassle at all. We would like to thank the team at Prego for our lovely dinner and a great night! :)

Went to Prego this evening and for an early reservation at 6, the place was hopping! Now I know why. We had a fantastic meal and the service was first class. It’s a very intimate setting and everyone on staff makes you feel welcome and are very engaging. The value for the money is fantastic. Try the antipasto to share for an entrée… great flavours and just enough that you aren’t stuffed before the main. We had the fish special and lamb shoulder special. Cooked to perfection along with the roasted veggies as a side. Split the Baclava with ice cream and fruit dessert… awesome. Definite return visit on the horizon.

Prego is one of those fancy restaurants where the waiters do your napkin for you and make sure your glass is never empty. These kinds of restaurants aren’t usually my thing but wow I am impressed. Even though it’s on a pretty busy street, the general feel of the restaurant is so relaxed(but still pretty classy) that you don’t even notice the traffic outside. The staff are super, really attentive and helpful, and a couple even with Italian accents(!) I wasn’t super hungry so I went for an entrée and a side dish and I would have happily eaten a main sized dish of either of these. Everybody else was raving about their meals too, so all was good. We also ordered desserts and were told that there would be a wait for some of the dishes, but we were ok with that. It was, of course, delicious. It is a pretty expensive place, and I feel that maybe the food was only just slightly overpriced(I really did like it that much) but it was made up for in service. If I had all the money in the world I would eat here all the time, but I don’t so at the moment it’s just reserved for special occasions. Also think I should note that we went pretty early on a Tuesday and it was almost completely full, so I would definitely recommend making a booking.
