It was White Night weekend when we went, but was still surprised to see this two-level craft-beer bar dead empty on a Saturday night. Beers we tried(from a rotating list) were all delicious, staff friendly(if not starved for company) and they had a Super-Nintendo set up upstairs with Mario Kart, which just added to the feel that you were in a cool lounge-room up there. They do toasties too, which is great. Great addition to Smith St’s ever-growing selection of bars.

Two Row looked like a café but with long craft beer names where the specials board would be. Their music varied, peaking for me with the House of the Rising Sun. I was impressed with their taps and bottles. I drank a Trois Mousquetaires Hopfenweisse from Canada then a Nomad Long Trip Saison from New South Wales. We ate the Big Cheese: garlic-buttered sourdough filled with three cheeses and toasted. I skipped the Dan because it had ham in it and this Dan chooses not to. After these we went back for another round and their garlic cheesy toast. This was more of the garlic-buttered sourdough but in snackable form, kind of like chips.

Melting the heart of even the most hardened of Carlton Draught drinkers, this craft beer bar will turn into your new favorite local. It’s definitely in the running to be mine. What’s not to love? They have the trifecta: an adventurous selection of beer, a homey space, and inexpensive nibbles. With every toasted cheese sandwich, you get pickles. Pickles! It warms the cockles of this American girl’s heart. Back to the beer: there’s an ever-changing list of tap beer, and the bar staff are keen to let you try samples till you pick one that’s just right. And they’ll let you pay for just one beer with your credit card — a bonus in the $ 20-minimum credit/debit card land that is Melbourne, and just one more little lovely detail. I enjoy how the large tables make for eat mingling with other patrons; I love the little flowers and plants hanging up on the walls; and I enjoy the warm glow that comes from a night enjoying a good beer in great company. Well done!

Beer and toasties. Two Row had me at hello. I got into beer later in life, so I seemed to have completely bypassed that stage where you drink beer because it’s cheap and headed straight for drinking beer because it’s interesting. Two Row has got to be one of the best places in Melbourne to drink beer because you want to try something interesting and different. With a rotating roster of unique beers, Two Row provides a haven for beer nerds. If you’re not a beer nerd, ask for some help from the friendly bartenders to figure out what will suit your tastes. If you or your drinking buddies aren’t beer connoisseurs, don’t be frightened off the place as they also feature plenty of other options, but the focus is quality beer and whiskey. As for the toasties, they are perfect booze soak-up food, with a focus on American style fillings. I brought a large group here and had a round of all of them to sample a bit of everything. A classic ruben, veggies with manchego cheese and even a toastie made of preztals. Oh yeah, we also had a pretzel with beer mustard, which wasn’t my fav but given how many people at the table went and ordered their own I was clearly alone on this one. The space downstairs features tables and a small bar where everything is served from. Head upstairs and you’ll suddenly feel like you were invited to a house party in Collingwood, with each room set up like a lounge. This makes it a great spot to relax with friends outside of home, especially if you don’t want said friends trying to sleep on your couch, or you simply couldn’t be arsed make them grilled cheese sandwiches at all hours.

This place feels like home. With warm lighting, wooden floorboards, and carefully chosen furniture, it would be easy to curl up with your favourite whiskey or craft beer and spend a few cozy hours here on a winter’s night. The front bar is beautiful and inviting, with a range of craft beers that the owners change regularly, as well as an impressive whiskey collection(my partner was particularly excited to find the boutique brand Starward, which we first encountered at Top Shelf Festival a few months ago). If you wander upstairs, you’ll find more cozy seating areas, more beautiful wooden floorboards, and more moody lighting. The service was wonderful — staff completely non-judgmental and always ready to chat about new beers — and the toasties were out-of-this-world delicious. I’ll be back, Two Row.

A cute little craft beer bar down the dead end of Smith street. The good thing here is that a Variety of toasted cheese sandwiches are available, simply named toasted cheese, as are pretzels, so you can fill up while drinking great beer on tap or by the bottle. There is also a small whiskey selection, if that’s more to your appeal, or other wine and spirits. It’s a cosy little place, and so far it’s already quite busy. The upstairs section looks like you’ve mistakenly entered someone’s house, but still know it’s a bar. Staff are friendly and helpful, and have a great knowledge, if you so choose to ask advice. There’s also specials on the blackboard, so remember this, when ordering. Tap beers change regularly and are listed on the blackboard too. Finally there’s little chapters of beers in the menu to help you find your favourite kind. There’s a beer and price range for everyone, and they don’t stock any of the large volume commercial insipid beers.

Two Row is a small relaxed bar in Smith Street Collingwood. The place is very inviting with white walls, tiled bar and warm wooden furniture. The addition of flowers gives the place a relaxed and homely feel. On the bar there is an emphasis on craft beers with five different beers on tap and several bottled beers from boutique brewers such as Brew Cult. Bourbon and whisky also feature prominently on the top shelf. We found this to be a great place to relax on a Thursday evening and could quite easily become regulars.

Two Rows is a beer lovers haven from the hustle and bustle of life. As a girl who dates a beer bravado loving macho skinny man this little gem of a spot is a life saver for date night or even just a girl needs cheering up kinda night!(Yes we combined both on our recent visit). Tiffany of Beer Girl Bites fame is one of the hopped up beer brains behind this special little space. The experience and expertise of Tiffany and her staff shine through in every area. At first look you maybe rolling around in beer utopia or dreading a second class wine list that is only there to appease the non-beer drinkers in the group. W R O N G Two Row Bar has really taken things up a notch and has presented a well thought out and delicious non-beer menu. Hosting a variety of ciders from near and far and a subtle wine selection. Not to mention an action packed spirits shelf or two, complimented with Capi mineral beverages. The front bar and area is very petite and cosy. A great place to meet and greet friends. Where you really want to be after the lovely Tiffany helps out with a beer or two(or three) is upstairs to the couches. Couches like your Nana used to have. Good comfortable body hugging couches. Even if a post-teen hipster in a tweed jacket nabs a couch don’t stress out too much. The chevron inspired cushions are there to welcome you to bench-ville. Don’t pass by the pretzels! The beers are ya know all beer like but the pretzels are heart taming warm and soul soothing. And also served with a beer mustard dip thingy.

Brought to you by people that know and love good beer. Two Row wants to have rotating taps to keep you coming back. And with their opening night features, I’m sold on returning for more — it included Renaissance chocolate oatmeal stout, a sour Rodenbach Grand Cru, and take two of the Aurora Borealis — a more drinkable version of the first incarnation. Plus the staff were great about letting me taste the different varieties when I couldn’t make up my mind! The bottled menu has a good list of standards — ex. Stone & Wood, Hop Hog, and Mountain Goat, plus a selection of seasonal/limited edition beers. For those craving other types of fermentation, there are also ciders, wine, and spirits on the menu. But you should come here to drink the beer. The downstairs area got a little loud & echoey. But there’s also an upstairs area with a retro vibe — green plastic chairs plus more cushy seating & couches. I wasn’t able to try the food, but am giving a thumbs up to the addition of grilled cheese(toasted cheese) sandwiches on the menu. I’m looking forward to seeing how this bar develops, and will raise a glass to a new establishment pouring craft beer in Melbourne!
