American and British candy and snax fans, get your fix on here! When I need a sugar jolt from home, I beeline for the Tootsie Rolls and the occasional pack of Reese’s Pieces. Watching a movie eating those makes the experience at least 68% more fun. They also have some really crazy stuff from America which gives me diabetes just looking at them, like Ice Cream Sundae PopTarts for $ 11 a box. For the peckish Brits, Terry’s Choco Orange and wine gums out the wazoo along with some savoury snacks like Hula Hoops and Quavers are on the shelves. If you’re going to stock up on Aussie faves, you can probably find it cheaper elsewhere. But for the special and international sucrose seekers, this is your heaven.

It’s no longer difficult finding American brands of confectionery. Supermarkets and corner stores have begun to stock imported names like Reece’s and Dr Pepper. But if you want a one-stop location for all things sweet and Yanky, the Original Lolly Shop is it. Deep in the outlet precinct of Smith St, the walls of this shop are lined with tall containers of mixed lollies that you can scoop into a paper bag and buy for $ 19.50 a kilo. Yes, a bit of a rip off and the lollies themselves are less than exciting: bananas, jaffas, gummies, freckles, those teeth things, etc. More exciting is the huge range of lollypops at the counter as well as all the American chocs on the back wall. Junior Mints, Milk Duds, whacky M&Ms flavours and more Reece’s products than most places stock — ie. more than just Peanut Butter Cups.
