Milk + Sugar

One of my favourite homewares stores! Always neat and clean while not pretentious, full of beautiful boutique-​style, often locally designed homewares without the exorbitant pricetag, and manned by friendly — though not pushy — staff… this place is a breath of fresh air in a market overstocked with minimalistic designs.
I bought a set of bowls and plates from Milk + Sugar and absolutely love them. Not a chip in them yet (touch wood), which is quite the accomplishment in our home!

I like local designers and all matters of things modern and minimalist. But sometimes you just need to find that sweet spot between cheap knock-​offs and exorbitant originals. I think Milk + Sugar has that.
Their products are nice and modern in design, decent quality and designed in Melbourne. In a nutshell, if I was in the market for some nice chevron printed homewares without the ‘hipster tax’, I’d come here.
They have a good range of homewares and I also really like their patterns on the make up bags and large beach/​weekender bags. I’ve travelled with my aqua chevron cosmetics bag for ages and it doesn’t look more than a day old.
And bedding! Man, I did not realise how hard it was to find nice patterns on quilt covers (that aren’t on white) until I started looking for a new quilt cover. They have a good range of colours with simple spots and geometric shapes.
Definitely worth a look if you’re sprucing up your house.

Milk and Sugar stocks the sort of thing every minimalist, modern kitchen could want or need.
Beautiful Italesse glasses for your expensive wine will do nicely, yes.
It’s not about quantity over quality; it’s about minimalist design that’s functional. That meal you just re-​heated looks great on that plate, doesn’t it?
Whilst Milk and Sugar isn’t cheap, it’s probably worth the amount you’re paying. Perhaps you’re not in the market for something so beautiful. In that case, leave.
Whilst they stock other brand’s objects, they also have their own, of which is very nice indeed.
Their prices aren’t that expensive, I may have gone over the top with the toff attitude, but it’s great that a place like this can inspire that. When I’m shopping for my fantasy home, I’ll come here and try to believe that my dinner parties will be the best in my entire neighbourhood.
We can talk about our tacky neighbours and their new lurid extension. «It looks onto our tennis court!» The outrage.
