Great barber shop. Got in at 7pm and got a cut immediately. 30 $ is ok. I feel bad because I tipped, but not very good. Will come again and tip properly next time.

Drunken Barber was recommended by a friend of mine who is usually pretty on trend with men’s cuts. He has visited a few different hairdressers but finds the walk in(no appointments) option of Drunken Barber quite handy especially working in Hospitality. The food options for after a haircut are impeccable, feeling classy visit Huxtable next door, if you need a quick burger fix then J-walk over to Huxtaburger which also has a ATM in there so you can pay for your Drunken Barber cut(No cards accepted). So how was my experience? It was pretty darn good which has turned me into a fan of this place. I was given a great haircut and was not churned through ala Culture Kings barbershop. I was shown how to look after my hair and also the best products to use, the only thing I can fault is not being offered a shave when I my facial hair was getting pretty long. I unfortunately also forgot to ask, I will be back soon for another cut.

Drunken Barber is an upstairs annexe of the Prophecy salon on Smith Street, and rotates staff to this men’s barber offshoot. No appointments — just stroll in and wait until they’re free. Like Dr Follicles round the corner, you can help yourself to a beer from the fridge, or choose some tunes on the speakered-up iPad while you wait. Friendly, slightly blokey atmosphere — everyone from the customers, the barber and the people waiting were all chatting away together. My haircut was very quick, but turned out really well. Cost $ 30, bit more than I usually pay, but worth it because it was open on a Sunday — the only day I am usually free to get my hair cut, and most of the barbers and hairdressers in the area are closed. Don’t let the name worry you — the barber was not actually drunk(as far as I could tell). I suppose next I’ll find out that Dr Follicle has neither medical qualifications nor a PhD.
