Best bagels in Melbourne, amazing chocolate babka, celebration cakes and loads of heavenly baked goods on display. Always buzzing and cheap for such good quality. I bought a 6 person chocolate layer cake for a birthday for $ 17. So glad to have this place as my local.

Here, right here, is where you find delicious and scrumptious pastries at awesome prices. I find that I like to stop by here when just walking by. It always tempts me with its amazing selection in the window. They make some great bagels, probably some of the best in the area and what better area to compete with than Elsternwick and probably better than Bagelicious just across the road. I really like this place and I have to refrain myself from pigging out on their food every time I am nearby,

The best cake shop in Melbourne. I have no hesitation at all in stating such. Always buzzing with friendly faces. Well priced. Outstanding product. It is a solid achievement to be the best in a field, even more-so when you are the standard in a field in a suburb renowned for a certain product. Kudos.

A great treat post gym. Stock up on your bagels and I can never go past the vanilla slice!

The best post Tan run reward = warm sesame bagels from Aviv. And, being Hanukkah, a donought is simply a must have indulgence

Mostly Jewish inspired cakes, biscuits, danish’s, strudels, bread and bagels. All of their little biscuits and sweets are pretty good where if you were having a little brunch party they’d be perfect for coffee and biscuits. Some of the breads look really good as well where I’m a big bagel fan so was keen on their poppy seed bagels. Not an amazing place to get a coffee but still has a lot of charm and is good for those occasions where you need to bring a treat to a party or dinner.

I’m going to say it, and everyone is going to gasp in horror, but I think Aviv make the best bagels. ‘That bitch said what?’ I said Aviv make the best bagels. Small, dense, sweet while retaining their savory, they do it well. Aviv was like a fixture in my childhood home. Every Sunday meant bagels and there was nothing sweeter than piling different fillings onto the round, golden bread. As I got older, bagels played less of a role in my life. I guess we get older and move on… who knows? Either way, I still visit Aviv for their amazing babka and other such European desserts. If you want a taste of Jewish, I say get your elbows ready at the poking, push your way through the crowded shop, take your number, scream over the counter, and then bite in some delicious traditional food.

This little café is well-known in the Elsternwick/Caulfield area as THE place to go for bagels, cakes and biscuits. And if the crowd inside or the fact that they have a ticket system installed doesn’t convince you of this, then you really should make a trip to this busy bakery to see for yourself. Forget mass-produced and learn to trust your tastebuds by ordering a selection of their delicious biscuits. A hot favourite with kids at parties, the crumbly bikkies, rich shortbreads with pistaschios and chocolate covered swirls will definitely leave you begging for more. But the crème de la crème at this mighty bakery has got to be its Tiramisu. A much-loved Italian favourite, the Tiramisu gets sold like hotcakes so if you’re at Aviv and you see some, do yourself a favour and order it quick. In case, you’re too late though, fret not — the other cakes are really good and the flourless cakes are simply divine.

If I could travel the world on a journey just to find the best vanilla slice I would go in a heartbeat. Until I book that flight I have found Melbourne’s contender in the challenge and it is located inside what some say is also one of the best places to buy bagels in town, Aviv’s. If you are planning to have people over for brunch I highly recommend pre ordering some mini bagels. Your guests will be as happy as I am when I go to someone’s house for brunch and I see those little circles of holy dough.
