A friend told me once that«nobody does a bird like Chooks on the rocks» but because I am a charcoal chicken lover and have my own opinion of this, I refused to believe her. One day when my usual charcoal chicken place wasn’t open however, I decided to taste the famous Chooks on the rocks. And I was blown away! Crispy delicate skin on the outside, smooth, tender, moist chicken on the inside. Enough said! No but seriously, I felt bad first for not believing my friend and second, because soon after that, my old favourite place because number two on my list. Chooks also offer gluten free chicken, chips and salads so it has become a real hit with my family. The chickens come in three sizes but we normally just get a medium sized bird to feed four. Did I mention, the chips are crispy on the outside and soft and supple inside.

Chooks on the Rocks has always felt funny to me. I’m not sure about how I feel when it comes to the name and looking in I’ve always been a bit scared of menu items like«MONSTERBURGER». I have a weak heart and I feel like one bite out of a «MONSTERBURGER» might just tilt me over the edge into a cardiac arrest. Last time I looked in two young kids were tucking into their burgers and had grease running down their faces so I backed off. I’m still yet to brave a burger there where my weak heart and grease tolerance being low, I’m not sure if I’ll ever brave it. The chips were OK but again the salt content meant I had to drink a litre of water and lie down afterwards.
