This is one of those times where the restaurant has postive reviews but I was left disappointed. I can’t help but think — are my tastes that much different from most people? But I’m sure we’ve all had those moments. The décor is from the early 90s. Old, shabby, small suburban restaurant. I hesitated to touch the furniture because it looked dated and germy. I couldn’t get past the outdated décor so naturally I questioned the cleanliness of the kitchen, utensils, and food. Food tasted average but I quesion how sanitary it is. The price is a lot to pay considering the above. Very unenjoyable experience.

Wow, was I surprised with this place! I usually stay to the other side of Eastwood station so I’ll go to Sakae or Zenya, but this time we went to try something new and Unilocaled around to find this place. Honestly, I didn’t expect too much because it’s just Eastwood, but when we got to the front door there were SO many customers. The tables were all full and there was a line out the door for takeaway. Couldn’t believe it. They asked if we had a booking and we didn’t. :(Luckily they had a table available for 45 minutes that we could snag! The sushi is great and as fresh as they come. Really couldn’t fault it at all. I ordered a cold soba along with my sushi and I was a little disappointed with it. The noodles were over cooked and mushy. The sauce okay, nothing to phone home about. Next time I go back, I think I’ll stick to a purely fish and sushi related option.

My favourite sushi in Eastwood and also my top three in Sydney. The food is all prepared fresh to order and it tastes as though as well. Don’t be fooled by the humble appearance of the building, these guys know what they are doing to produce delicious meals. Although a little more $$ than your average sushi train visit, the quality will surpass the few extra dollars paid.

This is my second visit here and have been hanging out to try this place again after having such good sashimi/sushi here last time. We got here just before 6 which was lucky as 5 – 10 mins the place was full. We sat at the bar this time. Nice to sit where the action is! This time we ordered the Hukuya special($ 27), sushi and soba combo($ 17 for dinner) and a chicken karage(?? Can’t remember but probably around $ 10 – 12 mark). The cuts of sashimi were huge on the Hukuya set. There was 8 nigiri rolls– 2 salmon, 2 scampi, 2 eels, 1 fish roe and a kingfish belly — no sea urchin that night! It was divine but hard to do the right thing(I.e. eating in one mouthful) by the sushi chef! The sushi and soba were ok but we were probably not fare to compare it to our Japanese escapades in Tokyo! The karage was not so good. We have much better at other places. Having said that you’d really come here just for the sushi and sashimi. We should of known better, especially considering the place was full of people just ordering the sashimi boats! If all you want is sushi and sashimi and you happen to be in the neighborhood looking for a pensioner hour dinner because you haven’t got reservations, then come here! :) It’s got great sashimi/sushi but it gets busy !

Monday Nights. The night of the week where finding a decent restaurant that’s open can be a challenging task. Not last night though! FOOD I’m so sorry Japanese food. I have neglected you for quite awhile. I hope I made it up to you by going all out by ordering the following for 2 people. Deluxe Sashimi($ 37) Okonomiyaki($ 9) Soft Shell Crab Roll($ 11) The sashimi cannot be missed! Freshly cut right in front of you if your sitting at the bar. The deluxe can easily be devoured by two people. Don’t be afraid! OVERALL Quite a small place. I can imagine it getting very packed on weekends. Service is quite fast though so turnover of customers should be pretty good. This is also meant to be a Japanese/Korean place but there is hardly any Korean dishes on the menu.
