Ok so it look like they’re still around. That’s GOOD, because they have the best Hawaiian burger I’ve ever had, EVER. It’s been over 6 years(!!), but I was one of their biggest fans when they first opened. I was working nearby at the time, and you know how word travels — everybody at work was raving about their burgers. I had to try, so I came here. They deliver within a certain distance, and most of my workmates used to have theirs delivered, but I always preferred going there and either eating right there or taking away. The shop is tiny and has limited seating, and I’m so glad Angela posted a photo of the ‘red wall of menu,’ because this is basically what you look at when you come here. Now the food: I know that even for Sydney it’s not exactly cheap, but their Hawaiian burger is a monster and my absolute favourite. It is BIG. They never skimped on any of the ingredients as far as I could tell, from the massive piece of juicy grilled chicken breast to a huge ring of pineapple. I would always get a small chips with either tomato sauce or aioli, and often share with workmates so I could try both, because you only get one complimentary sauce. Service always seemed casual and reasonably quick, and that includes delivery. It seems like gourmet burgers are still trending in Sydney, and I’m glad to see these guys are still around. A must try whenever I visit Sydney!

I’ve eaten here several times, the burgers are decent considering the price. I’ve never waited terribly long for my food, though sometimes the staff have trouble getting your order correct as they did today. I wanted my gherkins, especially after repeating my order about five times. The buns are a little dry and boring but the contents are good. The chips are pretty meh, as is their aioli but the peri peri is good. I will probably eat here again but it’s close and I’m lazy, and pubs aren’t the most hangover friendly place with the noise and flashing lights of the pokies

This place is good but not great. We can get a lot better burgers in the area and if we you are willing to walk a bit further you can get some great burgers. Saying that this place is relatively cheap, burgers are around $ 10. And they have many weird burgers with different sauces. However, we prepared to wait. And I mean wait. It took a good 15 – 20 minutes to make my burger and the store was empty.

Have you ever waited two hours for a burger? Two full ‘first-world problems, I am starving’ hours? Basically if you DO end up waiting for a burger for two hours it should pretty much taste of angel tears and star dust. Star f-ing dust. Now, look I will take ownership when ownership is due. We WERE lazy, really lazy — 1 km away from Burger Joint and decided to order delivery. So, perhaps this is god punishing us, because there is NO way it is PHYSICALLY possible to cook three burgers and deliver them 1 km away in more than 30 minutes. Impossible. Unless you are cooking these burgers with light through a magnifying class — you cannot take more than 10 minutes to sear a burger on a hot grill. Fact. It took three burgers two hours to arrive.(Hows that for a math problem?) Every time you wait more than 10 minutes for a burger — an angel loses it’s wings and I can tell you there are a lot of pissed-off wingless cherubs running around heaven at the moment. AND when the burger did arrive, it was average. AVERAGE! 2 hours means stardust and you dish up two hours worth of average. No burger joint, just no.

Doood. Don’t compare Australia to America. It’s apples and oranges mate. We do burgers differently here, and to be honest — okay. this isn’t the best. But it’s ok. Why the fuck do we have to compare to everywhere else in the world? This is Australia. We do things the way we bloody want. And obviously so does Burger Joint. Every review points out that this is a small hole in the wall. Thats not their fault. If you don’t particularly feel like making new friends — go somewhere else, this place won’t be for you. Again found myself in the vicinity of Darlinghurst and ravenously hungry. Getting a bit sick of the waiting times though for food. It is a busy take away store so I guess that has to be a part of the problem. The Aussie Burger is tall, with egg beetroot, bacon and the healthier bits of cheese lettuce and tomato. It’s big! And CHEAP. It’s just what an Aussie burger should be. And I like it. Eat here at your own risk — as is well known, it is a hole in the wall.

This place sucks. One thing I’ve learned traveling the world is that nobody can do burgers like the United States(though Hache in London’s Camden Locks is quite good!). I arrived at the location in an alley in King’s Cross and saw there was really no place to sit. Family-style eating on picnic tables so, uh, make a new friend. Regardless, I decided I’d give it a shot and ordered the Aussie Burger with BBQ sauce(tomato sauce– ketchup? — was the other option). I was told it would be roughly 25 minutes. WTF?! 25 minutes to cook a burger up at a little burger stand?! Whatever. I’m starving, it’s New Year’s Day and nothing else is open. I sat at a table with four others and on the table in front of me sat the remains of a group that dined prior to my arrival. Empty drink cups, half-eaten burgers, trash, etc. and it remained there. Nobody came by to clear the table. Flies came to party. It was gross. A table inside opened up and I promptly moved. I noticed the trashpile out front remained. Finally, my food arrived. I instantly asked for ketchup for my fries and was informed that required an extra charge. Ketchup, for the fries/chips I paid for is EXTRA?! That’s unheard of in the States. What’s so special about this ketchup? Does Mr. Heinz himself fly in on a private jet and ejaculate ketchup onto my plate? I’d pay a couple bucks to witness that I s’pose. Alas, I learned the extra charge was literally for an extra dollop of ketchup, er, ‘tomato sauce.‘ The burger? Meh. Mediocre at best. You can go to a thousand places in the States and get a better burger. From the long wait to the dirty tables to charging for ketchup and, finally, delivering a very mediocre product. .. Burger Joint, you suck.

Not great. Decent Aussie style burgers as opposed to American style. Meat is overcooked, not juicy and pink. Overpriced too. The carrington does a way better burger for same price.

Stopped here for a quick late lunch. Surprised to have found this place because it’s so tiny(as everyone else has seemed to mention). FOOD Given practically everyone that worked there was Asian I opted for the Asian burger. Teriyaki Chicken Burger with Wasabi Mayo, Pineapple and Pickled Ginger.($ 10.50) When eating Teriyaki Chicken you don’t normally put wasabi/mayo/wasabi mayo on it. Well I don’t anyway. Wasabi and pickled ginger are usually reserved for sushi not teriyaki. On this occasion it seemed to work though! Pineapple was a bit iffy though. Not very Japanese like. Good serving of Peri-Peri sauce with my small chips($ 3). Nice and spicy. Some of the chips unfortunately spent a little too long in the deep fryer for my liking. I’m picky with chips. These were unfortunately not the perfect balance of crispy on the outside soft on the inside. OVERALL Decent burger place. Was debating between a ¾ star during my meal. Last minute save by the delivery boy. As I left I saw him hop on one of their awesomely decorated delivery bikes. Love the environmentally friendly nature of the delivery. Well done!

When I miss home, this is where I’ll have to come to get a nice burger. It’s small indeed(the place, but definitely not the burgers) but they did a fantastic job with the Hawaiian beef burger I ordered to go along with the hot chips. Man, it hit the spot on a rainy day and I can’t wait to try their other burgers as well. I may have to create my own burger to mirror an In-N-Out cheeseburger. Plus, if you’re lucky, then you might even get some entertainment from the girl at the counter as she sings along to the music.

This place is so tiny and unassuming. You’d walk by it without noticing it if not for the delectable scent of burgers wafting out of the place. There’s really nothing bad to say about the burger joint. The burgers are amazing. All the ingredients are fresh and there are heaps of options to choose from. If we lived closer to this place and went more often I’d be tempted to try one of the many wraps on the menu, but I’m always beckoned by, of course… the American Burger. Meat, cheese, lettuce, tomato and mustard. Simple and delicious.

They do a decent burger here. It’s definitely a good pick in the neighbourhood. Last time I had the Mexican beef burger which comes with guacamole and spicy peppers. It had a little extra kick. There are a few tables but seating is limited. It’s a good option for takeaway. You can also order off their menu at Darlo bar. So if you need a table for your group, just head there and get your burger hit from across the street.

I know a good burger meal when I taste one. I can even just visually look at a burger and know it’s going to be good. There has to be the right burger to bun ratio, it cannot be over or undercooked, fresh condiments, the right trimmings and the fries that come with it better be good. It seems as though Sydney has had an obsession with Waygu beef and the gourmet burger. It’s been hard pressed to find a really good an honest burger here in Sydney. It’s either just fast food or something gourmet. There are a couple of good places, but the experience at the Burger Joint was just what I was looking for. Made to order along with a bowl of fries, I was in heaven when it was ready to eat. Newspaper on the table to read, burger in hand, fries and tomato sauce ready to accompany the meal and a drink on standby. Don’t bother me… I’m eating.

When a burger can’t stay level in the harsh habitat of uneven tomato, and juicy & slippery slabs of beef, we should enlist the expertise of Frank Lloyd Wright. Besides being Architecturally lacking, with a burger structure that resembles quick sand, it’s messiness is directly proportionally to its tastiness. The taste was ok, but I can imagine some better aioli sauce, and thinner cut tomato’s and shaved beetroot instead of slabs that make it hard to fit the whole thing in your mouth. Cough cough. The extensive menu allows you to be creative and pick your mess to your hearts content. Grab a seat outside, as the inside seating is less than inspiring, the tables outside are much better.

The area isn’t short on decent burger bars, and although The Burger Joint may be more cosy than Grill’d or the newly opened Burgerlicious, but it certainly doesn’t lag behind in quality. Now with one less competitor following the recent closure of Burgerman around the corner, the rather inconspicuous eatery should definitely be on your radar if your in need of a burger fix! You can choose from the fairly extensive menu, or if you’re feeling creative and/or picky, then you can build your own. And if you’re a bit over buns, then feel free to ask for your burger to be made into a wrap. They even do salads if you’re that way inclined, but if you’re at a burger place, you should probably give the burgers a go(they have veggie options for the animal lovers out there too). So it may look uninspiring from the outside, but give it a go! You won’t be disappointed(I hope!).
