Good ambiance but dishes are rather pricy with small portions. We took a salmon, oysters, flambee prawns and beef carpaccio. Oysters are very very small. They look like baby oysters that you eat with mini spoons. 6 for 18 $, for me it s not worth it. In France we have more tasty and normal bigger size oysters. The prawns’ price is 29 $ for 4 pieces: 7.25 $ a piece. Wifi is by vouchers for 1 hour only. This is my first restaurant in Australia, I’m disappointed for the timelimit and the network is slow… Service is good though.

I came to Cott & Co for Melbourne Cup with a group of coworkers and was very happy with my experience here. The restaurant has great ambiance — I love the sophisticated seaside vibe with washed white furniture and ocean blue fixtures. The restaurant is a bit on the smaller side but it has an open plan kitchen that adds depth. There’s a ton of fresh veggies on display which was also a nice touch. It was a nice sunny day so they opened up the front windows and let the seabreeze in. The view over the Indian Ocean isn’t too bad either! We shared a few cured meat platters which had a nice selection of prosciutto, salami and bresaola, served with homemade flatbread crackers, breadsticks and pickled beetroots and cauliflower. I had the fish of the day for my main which was a nice delicate salmon with a perfectly crispy skin, topped with asparagus and a fresh dill and microgreen salad. There’s a great selection of wines and you can be sure we tried most of them! I’d love to come back and try a bit more of their menu next time!

Seriously, SERIOUSLY underwhelming(both in taste and portions) for its prices. Would probably not come back here.

We had a great lunch there. The waitress gave us some excellent recommendations — crab with polenta was delicate and flavoursome, the zucchini and squid was outstanding and loved the whitebait. We spent the afternoon grazing and drinking champagne– was a great afternoon. Our experience was not at all like the other negative reviews.

Over lunch at the Brisbane a friend suggested we try Cott & Co. Fish Bar and I’m thinking hmm last time I went there it was like, $ 20 for a cold, tough steak sanger. Not to mention it was very Bogan-ville. But the Über Blonde decided it was time for a review. So, minus The Engineer, we headed there for a Sunday 3pm beer and bite. Yep the façade still presents all the grace of a semi demolished Frank Lloyd Wright mistake but if you close your eyes and walk in its worth it. First of all the place is absolutely spotless which is always a great first impression. And it was near empty(I love footy season Sundays). The view is speccy and the place has an up market surf shack appeal — distressed chairs and tables and the like. We had not been noticed coming in so it took a little while to make contact with the waitress but then she was all smiles and bearing big menus. Perfect. The bevvy list is impressive — smatterings of local and international beers and wines and of course, buckets of cocktails. The eats are also well rounded with quite a few(gf) and(v) selections which raised the Über Blondes eyebrows. The wine list is expansive and well priced with a lot of French and Italian labels and even some Mendoza faves. Unusually I could not decide and asked to taste the Maretti Langhe Rosso 2012. Well I won the lottery here — the head waiter not only happily provided a taste of this fab nebbiolo but also bought three other bottles of similar wines to our table and proceeded to tell us about all of them and why they are different. Screech of brakes! I’m in Cottesloe right? Not southern France? At a pub — really! Man this guy knew his stuff and even proceeded to show us an app for our phones that rates wines. Anyhoo the wine was fab and we ordered in a couple and after our crash wine course it was down to the food. The food covers all the bases but still has its bloke on. Nevertheless there was more than enough choice for the way we eat — small and many. The UB went for the spanner crab flesh on polenta($ 14 and(GF)) and I opted for the squid, coriander and lime salad($ 12 and also(GF)) and we threw in some grilled harissa honey carrots($ 8.50(GF) and(V)). We kicked back and looked out to the brooding western sky — it does not get much better than this. The wine was superb and it was almost quiet in the place. Our reverie was interrupted by our dishes and they were well presented as expected. The cold squid salad was excellent as was the spanner crab but strangely enough the winner was the carrots. Crisp from undercooking and delish! Impressive indeed. Now I’m not a desert kind of guy so when the Blonde ordered the ricotta cake, red wine poached pears, ginger mascarpone($ 9) I was a bit meh. What arrived was one of the better presented deserts(sorry Bivouac) I have seen and man it was fab. Perfectly cooked pears and the ricotta cake rolled the UB’s eyes back. Special stuff. I know that this is a rare occasion — no crowd, great weather and very good food but we will definitely be back even if only for Wine Appreciation Lesson #2.

If the wait staff could have been more condescending — bordering on outright rude — I’m not sure how. The food was fabulous, if not a bit overpriced. I’m getting used to the crazy expensive prices, but the obnoxious service is never going to be acceptable in my world.

Very underwhelming meal for the price. Scallops(3) were tiny and completely overwhelmed by some sort of mucky tapenade(out of a jar?). Sides were also minuscule, though more correctly seasoned. Other people in our party were also unimpressed. The only standout being the swordfish. Service was mixed. Attentive but obviously put out which put a damper on our enjoyment. I’m certain there is better in the area. I understand prices here are high but that also raises expectations. They were not met.

Yum but expensive. $ 12 pints of beer and fish mains I would expect to pay a third less than the price — however this is Perth and the price gauging is standard practice in an inflated local economy(I still struggle to get my head around this). The food however is excellent. My fish was cooked perfectly and the sides were all delicious and tasty. And yes the sides, you will need those… The service was great with very friendly happy staff that were attentive and patient. I would go back again.
