Zephr East Freo has the perfect location for a fantastic café, however… Why is it every time we visit & we have visited numerous times hoping with all our hearts that things had improved, we are grossly dissapointed. I feel quite angry. Longing for the days when this place was tiny café called Leuwin Chewin that served best burgers & hot coffee around.
Zephr’s is no table service, which is not a problem, however, we waited an eon in line even though there were only 3 people in front of us today. People ahead were being refused service because they didn’t know their table number & it wasn’t visible from front desk as all numbers were laying flat because of the wind. Waiter didn’t have the initiative to ask the waiter who was aimlessly wandering around sipping water to take a look, but rather argued with patrons for a few mins.
Eventually after having a great deal of trouble finding us because of our flat down table nymber, we wete served luke warm flat white & very weak iced coffee with miniscule dollop of airy cream & without the requested/​paid for icecream, served in a shady not too clean looking possibly recycled honey pot/​mason jar with handle. Wouldn’t have minded if it had been sparkling clean.
What a missed oppotunity, this café is a really nice building in a fabulous location, however that’s it. Everything else is crap.

Great spot, good service and nice coffee. Cheesecake was also amazing, and the view is lovely.

Great food, and excellent location with one of the best views in town! I’d recommend this place to anyone for a laid back breaky or lunch.

This is a lovely little café right on the river.
My mum loves to take my sisters and I here for coffee and cake as they do an amazing humming bird cake and lemon brûlée tart. The serving sizes are massive so we always get two slices to share between us 4 girls.
The coffee isn’t anything special but the tranquility of the location makes up for it.
They do need to work in perhaps getting some new tables and chairs as we always seem to get the wobbly uncomfortable ones.
Service is ok, cheerful enough.
Definitely come when the sun is out as the cloudy days can make is chilly by the river.

Loved it! Alas, the outdoor seating is in the shade on Winter mornings so we sat inside, bathed in the sun next to a window. Ahhhh…
The food was great, the coffee was exceptional, the staff were reasonably friendly. It was a very relaxing place for a hangover brekky, although towards the end it was filled with Mums and kids. Keep that in mind ;-)
Oh, plenty of parking, too.

The location here is perfect with inside and on the riverfront seating.
A. Good selection of refreshments and food with prompt service. A reasonable amount of free parking or the carpark next door. Hidden behind the building, on the opposite side to the car park is a lovely park with more free parking.
