I’ve only been here twice and both times tried the waffles(different ones). They are delicious chocolatey goodness! The serving size is also more than enough. I wasn’t able to finish them either time, despite them tasting so good.

The chocolate fondue for 2 was delicious, and the chocolate frappé was acceptable. It was a bit noisy/busy for my taste.

Have not been here in many years. This being a Saturday night I was thinking we wouldn’t get a table. But my partner and I were welcomed in and given choice of seating. We sat down for tea and dessert. I had the twice baked chocolate soufflé which I can best describe as decadent. It was so warm and comforting. The perfect way to usher in Winter. I did try my partners Belgian waffles which I found incredibly bland. However I think most things would be in comparison to the soufflé. I found the service very friendly and in good time. A nice atmosphere and pleasant décor. There was a wait to pay in a cramped area but I was unperturbed. I was more than happy to stare longingly at the display of even more desserts. Will have to come back to try a breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Coco Monde is a loud, busy and inddeferent café. The Chocolate Mocha is not great and the wait staff are impatient, impromt and forgetfull on the whole. The arrangement of the site is cramped and difficult to enjoy converstation. Not a relaxing place to enjoy time with friends.

I’m not a big fan of chocolate, so when my friends declined the dessert menu at a restaurant and said we were gonna head to Coco Monde to get a chocolate fill to end the evening, I wasn’t too excited. It was a Tuesday night so I was expecting it to be empty, but boy was it BUSY! Had to wait about 15 mins for a table of 5. I asked my friend to order for me. Man did she pull through! She ordered a sharing plate, the Choco Monde Indulgence Plate(Cookies and Cream Cheesecake, Belgian Chocolate Mouse, Spanish Churros and Home Made Hazelnut Praline Ice Cream). When it came it, I was shocked at how rich it looked, I didn’t think I was going to be able to stomach so much sugar. We finished every last crumb on that plate! The Cookies and cream cheesecake was my fav! It was soft but firm and actually had nice crunchy pieces of cookies. Can’t wait to fly over again and get my choc indulgence. Move over Krispy Kremes, I have a new east coast love.

I’ve been here numerous times and have only ever been served top notch food by very friendly wait staff. I’m slowly working my way through the dessert options and am yet to hit a dud item. I only have good things to say about the variety of hot chocolates on offer. I’m very partial to the peppermint. They also do a killer mocha. One of the best I’ve had. Gets extremely busy on the weekends and booking a table is highly recommended. Easily the best macarons in Newcastle with a revolving selection of flavours. They’ve just updated their menus with more savoury items, including the pork belly at dinner time and the arabiatta baked eggs in the breakfast section. The baked eggs are easily one of the best breakfast items I have ever had at any café/resturant. I’ll continue to venture to Coco Monde until I conquer the menu.

When they opened, we decided to indulge in some rocky road, one of my favourite things on the planet. It was awful. The chocolate was cheap and nastly and tasted stale. It was just peanuts and chocolate sprinkled with coconut. I complained on facebook, and they responded and then deleted my comment before I could read the response. Bad customer service, stale food and overpriced products? I’ll pass.

I stopped in quickly mainly to get out of the rain and I discovered that this is where the population of Newcastle were hiding. ITWASPACKED. And smelt delicious. I came close to slipping into a sugar coma just breathing in the air. So I lucked out when trying to shelter, so I did what any sugar craving person does — orders a spanish hot chocolate. OHMYDEARSUGARCOMAGOODNESS. This was like a pudding in a cup. First thing they did was give me a spoon. I opened my cup and could have tipped it upside down over my head and it would have stayed in place. I dread to think how many calories were in that one cup alone, but damn if I was in Newcastle longer I would have been back the next day to dive into a vat of the deliciousness.

A spacious chocolate café and store. The dark timber décor makes it a cosy place for a hot chocolate on a rainy day or after dinner. The food has been a bit disappointing, the brownies were dry and the too-rich dark choc brulee thankfully now seems to be off the menu — the berry compote now served with the dark chocolate panna cotta would probably have helped. The café is new and the word on the street is that the food has improved in the last month or so. Where this place makes up for any shortcomings is in the hot chocolates and the pre-prepared chocolates to buy. Both are your more traditional take on chocolate and obviously have been prepared with some care. The hot chocolates are rich and creamy, served hot enough to warm your cockles while cool enough to actually taste the flavours. The service is always friendly and efficient, but it can take a while to get served if they’re busy.
