This place is my happy place, I swear. I’ve discovered amazing authors, mindblowing books and hidden treasures here. The organization is a bit chaotic because of the sheer amount of stock. But brand new releases for less than $ 8? Flawless win. However, don’t rely on anything specific being in stock, especially if it is popular/trendy, a new release or a school-assigned text. Definitely worth checking out — no one can walk out without buying anything; there’s a freebie box, a chair to enjoy your new purchases and you can buy gift-certificates!

My library smells like rich leather bound mahogany, doesn’t yours? No? Okay. That’s awkward. Cooks Hill Books & Records doesn’t smell like rich leather bound mahogany but it does smell like beautifully stacked and well-read books ready for new homes. From floor to ceiling there’s just enough room to walk from bookshelf to bookshelf as you aimlessly wander through this delightful collection of second hand books. From past visits prices are reasonable and there’s often a ‘bargain table’ out the front. It’s a great post-coffee stop when on Darby Street.

This is old school. An endless collection of shelves full of all sorts of weird, kooky and antique litarture. You could literally spend hours browsing the shelves and stumble across something amazing. It seems to keep going forever, around some odd walls and into narnia. A book lovers paradise.
