This is a pleasant family run restaurant. Mum in the kitchen and son out the front. All very welcoming. The food is Thai with«farung» tendencies. If you like your food more«spicey» just ask. Being away from the busy part of Coogee and with the sea breezers it has a relaxing atmosphere. I would highly recommend.

Thai Banyan Tree describes it self as serving«real Thai fusion cuisine», the menu offers some Thai meals incorporating Barrimundi, crab and prawns. Apart from these seafood options I did not see much on the menu which particularly qualified as fusion, the dishes were fairly standard Thai fare. None the less the food is good, I was not feeling particularly adventuous and decided on the good old Chicken Pad Thai. And it was what delicious, what I expected, what I wanted. The Banyan Tree has a good location to it is a cosy little place and being in Arden place it is near the Coogee Beach, but over the other side from most of the action so it escapes the hustle and bustle.

Thai Banyan Tree is a casual midweek eatery that is actually cute to sit at the few tables out the front. I prefer this to sitting inside as it is a bit pokey in there and can feel cramped. The sea air makes for a relaxing night so take a bottle of wine and order some well priced thai fusion. Steamed Barramundi with Lemongrass is just gorgeous. The Green Curry is hot, very hot, so if you can’t handle the heat, get the yellow or red. The Warm Duck Curry was too sweet for me, with lychees and sweet chilli jam but the heat of the curry balanced it all out. Overall a pleasant and inoffensive little local.
