I just ordered a fish dish here. After thirty minutes of waiting, the dish is here, and on top of the the fish there is a fully cooked fly. So disgusting!!!

After waiting at least an hour and a half for our meal, the meal was lovely, the service questionable. Ignored by staff for at least a half an hour.

–No credit cards– We know this place for 7 years and were regulars until 5 years ago before we moved overseas. Coming back to Chili box was a long waited experience. Started with Tom Yum soup() Pad Tai and beef Curry — really nice flavor. Probably you can find other good Thai restaurants around the Spot but this place won’t disappoint you.

**CASHONLY** Located a block from Coogee beach, this is a great place for a meal if you happen to be around the area. Food was OK, nothing spectacular. But what i loved about this place was the reasonable price tag for its lunch specials. For $ 10.90, you get a bowl of miso soup /4 pieces of entrée(fried wonton; thai fish cake; half a springroll; agedashi tofu) /main dish Im not sure about serving miso soup and agedashi tofu in a thai restaurant but hey! For a decent cheap meal, i’ve got no complaints :)

Disclosure: I haven’t been here in over 2 years This place is right near where I lived and was actually my first meal in Australia… other than some crappy airport food. I was lured in by the $ 12 lunch special. This included a soup, appetizer plate with a salad, and an entrée. It ended up being comparable to standard Thai food in NYC, which I didn’t expect at the time. The fact that tax and tip is included in the price, and that a lot of things cost double in Sydney, this was a really cheap meal. The service was quick and efficient, and got the job done. If you’re in the Coogee area and want Thai, I’d suggest coming here.

Look, I am not from here and really shouldn’t be passing judgement on a one off dine-in experience, but here i am… judging. We were at the beach and had a need for spice… walking past the ubiquitous seaside fish & chips and bad nori-rolls we happened upon Chilli Box. The meal was not amazing, but the lunch special was extremely well priced and fresh and we got our chilli hit. I would eat here again, so it didn’t offend.

Amazing Thai food. Ate here a few times while visiting, the crystal chicken and soft shell crab are fantastic! Food was super fresh and came out very quickly.

Have you ever heard of an entrée called Chicky & Nutty, no? well nevermind neither had I. But if you go to Chilli Box in Coogie you will find it. What it is is chicken, peanuts and herbs wrapped in pastry, with a sauce of fried garlic and coconut cream. Are you on your way to Coogie yet? It was the most fantastic entrée invention, I should have just ordered two serves instead of a main. BUT the main was just as exciting, I Beef with stirfried sweet potato with a spicy coconut cream sauce(yes I had a lot of cocnut cream). I had never seen a sweet potato dish on a Thai menu before and I love sweet potato, so I had to have it, it was so worth it. I highly recommend Chilli Box, it is beautifully set out restaurant with an attractive décor providing an elegant environment for dining and the food certainly meets the standards of the surroundings.
