There are two reasons to go to Smith Street for lunch. One of them is the Vietnamese rolls you can get a bit further south from here and the other is Yes Sushi & Juice. It’s self explanatory really. They make fresh sushi, to order, and do fresh juice the same. They have fabulous brown rice options and do great deals in the afternoons to clear any stock for the next day. They are cheerful and pretty skilled with the hand rolls. It’s one of the few places around where they’re happy to whip you up whatever concoction you want on the spot. You don’t get that slippery seaweed here, their seaweed still has that fresh and dry crunch. There’s cheaper juice up the way a bit, but for a healthy and delicious lunch, Yes Sushi is one of my absolute faves in the area.

Strangely, there’s not a lot of places to get lunchtime sushi from along Smith Street, considering every other shopping strip in Melbourne is covered in stores. So Yes Sushi Yes Smoothie covers that gap but the problem is it’s good, but it’s not great. So if someone else moved in, I’d probably go try the sushi there. There’s nothing wrong with the sushi here, it’s just not the best. It was a little warm too which had me worried. Nothing happened. I just worried. But I like to worry about all kinds of things. There’s usually a lot of people coming in and out of here on warm days too.

Yes Sushi sells my two favourite healthy snacks — sushi and fresh juice! And they even do a brown rice sushi option if you want to be even more healthy. I personally never actually choose the brown rice roll but I like knowing it there just for my piece of mind. Both their juices and sushi are nice and fresh. The service is also efficient and friendly. They maybe don’t have as large a range of sushi flavours as some other like shops, but the ones they do do they do very well. My favourite is to get the peking duck sushi roll with a freshly made berry flavoured juice. Yes! Sushi!
