Not to sound like too much of an alcoholic, but I used to go to Dan Murphy’s every week. It wasn’t only to satiate my thirst for port, as soon as one of my family members got wind of an impending visit I was besieged by orders. For anyone who has been to this monolith of an off-license you’ll know why. This place has got to be one of the biggest and best bottle-o’s I have seen in Brisbane. Dan Murphy’s has a long history of delivering a vast range with a low price and now each store in QLD boasts an impressive 3,500+ products on their shelves. Great for finding that obscure bottle of wine or imported beverage, Dan Murphy’s is my go-to off license when in the northside.

Dan Murphy’s is a major chain, so you all know what to expect when you go there — ridiculously cheap booze of course. Chermside Dan Murphy’s gets a special vote from me due to the service experience I had. I was catering for a dinner party of 13 and needed advice matching wines to each course. I knew roughly what I wanted but I wasn’t sure on the particulars of each wine. I asked a staff member, and he quickly got the head of the wine section, a rather good looking young man who had some pretty impressive knowledge under his belt. I read out what I was serving and he made some spot on recommendations, all within price point(about $ 20 — $ 25 per bottle). There was also a nice bulk discount at the end and I was able to hire a tray of glasses for $ 7 which was insanely cheap in my estimation.
