Fastfood chinois dans le centre commercial. Le ramen au porc est pas mal du tout. Service rapide

Katsu Chicken Curry from Hanaichi, can you go wrong? I don’t think so! I’ve been ordering this exact dish from Hanaichi for several years and I am yet to be disappointed! Under $ 10 for a small, filling, flavourful, fast and even though it is kind of like fast food you don’t feel like you’re eating the same old shopping centre food court slop. Wonderful! I have tried a couple of other items from the menu and I have never been let down. If you haven’t eaten from Hanaichi before you should give it a try, there really is a reason why they are always busy. I don’t love the complete of effort they put into service there comes a point where you feel like you’re on a conveyor belt, but lets be honest, you aren’t going there for he experience.

Food court dining is never glamourous, yet for a moment, eating the Miso Katsu Chicken and rice from Hanaichi you feel like you may be dining at a Japanese restaurant rather than being surrounded by fellow mall-rats in an echo chamber of incessant chatter and screaming children. Hanaichi is always popular and I’m 99% sure this has to do with two things: quality of food and price. For $ 6.90 you can order the small size of any of their main meals(there is a large option for $ 8.50 which I’m yet to see anyone finish). I am a creature of comfort and typically stay loyal to the Miso Katsu Chicken, however, I know that as my fellow Unilocalers have written the Japanese Curry is a hot favourite among diners. It is ‘fast-food’ and you’ll spend less time waiting in line here than it’s fellow food court friends including Wagamama and the Sushi Train. Add a peach tea(delicious!) for $ 2.40 and you have yourself a respectable lunch or dinner for less than $ 10. Un-heard of!

There are actually two Hanaichi’s in Westfield Chermside. One in the old food court(Gympie Road end), and one down in the new(and nicer) food court near Dan Murphy’s and Woolworths. I tend to favour the newer food court, as it has a nicer variety of food options and Hanaichi is always a favourite quick lunch option. If you don’t want to wait in the line for Sushi Train or Wagamama, then Hanaichi is your next best option. If it’s lunch time, there will probably be quite a line up, but the food is served quickly and the line won’t take too long at all. The Japanese Curry is probably the most popular dish at Hanaichi and what it is most famous for — at least amongst my friends. However, I like the Chicken Hanaichi with Rice for a slightly lighter meal. Fried chicken with salad on rice, with their delicious Hanaichi sauce. Just don’t eat too much rice.

Oh man. Hanaichi is just plain incredible when it comes to Katsu Curry. I admit I’ve never had anything else at Hanaichi, but their Katsu Curry is absolutely the best thing you can get in Winter Garden. It’s amazing value for money too. When it comes to food courts you can be forgiven for thinking that there can’t be anything decent to eat. In most circumstances, you’d be correct but I want you to know that when there’s a Hanaichi nearby you’re wrong. So very wrong. For $ 7.50 you can get a big ass bowl of rice, battered pork or chicken curry and a bunch of sauce. If you’re up for it, for an extra $ 1 you can get an extra helping. It’s extreme but do it. If you’re a student, live on this shit. You’ll be okay, trust me, I did and I’m still alive to tell the tale. Hell, even if this stuff did kill me, I’d die a happy man.

Hanaichi Wintergarden is one of the best Japanese around in my opinion, so when I saw they opened a kiosk in Westfield Chermside I was pretty excited. There’s no sushi train or a la carte here, you pick from a selection of quick meals(all modelled in plastic) and wait for the chef to whip it up in front of you. Prices are really reasonable(under $ 8 for most meals) and if I worked in Chermside I know where I’d be spending my lunch break.
