Lovely location, nice play area for the kiddies and some of the best tasting beers around. The food is ok, not flashy, but grossly overpriced for a pub — $ 40 for a steak, few chips and onion rings when I can get better at the High Wycombe tavern for $ 15.

Best Brewery in Perth! Ok I said it and I know this is a bold statement but this place has it all! Great food, great beer and the perfect atmosphere for anyone. So many different areas to please everyone such as a wonderful big green lawn for kiddies to play on with a fenced playground as well so mums & dads can enjoy a relaxing drink. There is also an abundance of picnic style tables for big groups. And then you move inside and it’s another atmosphere again with a Sunday sesh feel. We have been here a number of times with the family and friends and it’s always been great. It gets busy on the weekend but midweek can be a better time to go if your looking for a peaceful visit. And if you dont like beer and your a wine person… well they even have a winery next door, yes i told you they had it all

Lady FWO, after swanning around Melbourne recently, was looking for a relaxed change of pace, so we went out to Mandoon’s Homestead Brewery for a light lunch and drink to take in the lovely Swan Valley. As I have probably said before, the brewery is in a great location, part of Mandoon Estate with its excellent restaurant and wine tasting facilities, looking out across the vines, and with the added benefit of the amazing grounds — rolling lawns, playgrounds, beer garden, outdoor settings, deli and outside bar, it has everything you could wish for on a trip to the Valley. The brewery area itself scrubs up well — polished concrete floors, comfortable chairs, lounge area, a long easily accessible bar, and a fine veranda to sit out and catch the breeze. The menu is cleverly put together under snappy little headings — I’m hungry but only want a snack which cover olives, grilled octopus, smoked nuts and the like — I’m hungry but don’t want a big meal — Thai pumpkin soup, pulled pork sliders — and I’m hungry and want a proper meal — smoked beef ribs, chicken and oyster pie, fish and chips — as well as a pizza menu. As well as their beers, which are top notch, they also serve Mandoon’s own wines — and the estate has, in the relatively short time it has been open, become one of the most awarded wineries in WA. So with that in mind, as well as the weather which whispered rosé to us, we ordered a bottle. The 2014 rosé is bright pink, with fresh summery aromas of strawberries and cherries, while the palate shows mid palate sweetness, balanced by good acid, resulting in a crisp, off dry finish. It is good summer drinking. For our food, we fell neatly into the«don’t want a big meal» category so ordered a couple of dishes from that heading — smoked potato salad and Togarashi spiced squid. Togarashi, a Japanese spice mix, provided a mild, slightly zesty flavour, with a hint of citrus, to the beautifully tender fried squid. Served with creamy, wasabi infused mayo and mizuna with its mild pepperiness, this was a fresh, light meal, presented well on the plate. The salad, potato retaining some firmness, with a hint of smoky aromas and flavours, served with sour cream and chives, was also a lively, refreshing dish, pleasant and light. Both were just what we were looking for. Mandoon Estate has been developed into the best location in the Swan Valley with everything you could want for a great day out. Good food and drink, lovely ambience, friendly and efficient service. The Homestead Brewery is a key component of that experience. It is recommended.

We went here recently with a largish group for a friends birthday and were very pleasantly surprised. Aside from the ordering system begin a bit confusing(drinks at the bar, food table service, I think? Still not sure) everything was really nice and a lot better than the usual fancy pub type meals I was expecting. I had the snapper & chips, my partner had the burger and both were impressive. The fish was soft and perfectly battered and the chips looked home-cut and so crunchy. The most popular meal at our table, the mussels, were also really good and perfectly garlicky. Staff were also very accommodating and friendly. The beer was also great, I wish the sold the Black Swan Black IPA to take home!

I was so pleasantly surprised by Homestead Brewery. As far as breweries go in the Swan Valley, this one is at the top of the list. Their menu is extensive, in that it includes tapas, pizzas, big meals, small meals and a kids menu that actually has more options than the standard«burger + chips», «nuggets + chips» etc… It took awhile for us to be seated and served, but don’t let that deter you! If you can, be more organised and book a table as we just rocked up at 11:45am thinking it wouldn’t be busy(wrong) and that there would be plenty of tables available(wrong again). Most people book(because they are forward thinkers!) to ensure they have a table and are seated quickly. We had the Vincenzo pizza & fish and chips, both were amazing! Try their seasonal summer ale for a refreshing drink!

Loved it. Get there early, competition for a table gets fierce weekend lunch time. Head outside and have one for the road while kids run amok on huge grassed area and playground. Service was fantastic, and we all enjoyed our meals. Great place.

Can I just say. WOW. My first time in Swan Valley and I’m thrilled with my choice of brewery spot for lunch! Homestead brewery on Mandoon Estate was not only a treat for the eyes with the beautiful vineyards, homestead brewery & beer garden but was also a delight for the tastebuds! It was a long weekend so there were people everywhere which is why I can’t fault on the wait time for food(about 40 minutes). We enjoyed amazing pizzas and homemade cut chips with aioli out in the sunshine on the brewery café decking. Would highly recommend the prosciutto and buffalo mozzarella as well as the eggplant, capsicum and artichoke pizzas. The venue itself was stunning with a warehouse and funky vibe. The beer garden which appeared to be very family friendly also looked like a perfect spot to feast on treats with meat rolls from the delicatessen looking like the way to go for my next visit! I will definitely return to homestead brewery & am very keen to check out the Mandoon Estate restaurant !

A few days into the new year we decided to try out Homestead Brewery for Breakfast. We had plans for later that day to head to Outback Splash at The Maze in Bullsbrook but realised it didn’t open till 10am, an hour later than we thought. So my Hubby suggested a quick breakfast at Homestead and who was I to say ‘no!’. We’ve been here plenty of times already for a few drinks and some lunch/nibbles and have had breakfast on my ‘list’ to try for a while, that along with the Mandoon Estate Degustation Lunch or Dinner. We arrived at about 9am and was surprised to find the place almost empty, with 2 other tables dining. I put this down to everyone still being on Christmas Holidays because I’ve heard this place isn’t this quiet for breakfast on the weekends. We grabbed some menus and decided to sit outside seeing as though it was going to be a nice day. The waiter gave us enough time to decide on our drinks and we ordered our usuals; a Cappuccino and a Long Macchiato topped up. Browsing through the menu you will find the ‘usual suspects’ being Bacon and Eggs, Eggs ‘Benny’(a few ways) and Pancakes. Plus a few different items. The coffee’s were nice and smooth. No complaints… except that we didn’t get take-aways for the road. I had the Crispy Bacon and Eggs which came with a grilled field mushroom, tomato half and a slice of Sourdough Toast. The bacon was definitely crispy and my poached eggs were cooked to perfection. The sourdough toast could have done with some butter, so I piled my eggs on top. Hubby had the Eggs Benedict which presented with 2 English muffins topped with ham, perfect poached eggs and ‘that’ sauce. The meal also came with the Homestead’s ‘Hashbrowns’ which reminded me of little onion bhaji’s. They taste nothing like a bhaji but are crispy on the outside and soft and flavoursome on the inside. Thank goodness I had some of these on my plate too, because they were so tasty, I didn’t want to share. Our daughter had the Kids Pancakes(no surprise there) but wished there was more maple syrup! Perhaps a scoop of ice cream or cream would complete this cracker of a kids dish?! So glad to cross a ‘Homestead Breakfast’ off my list today, it really is a great new place in the Swan Valley. We are locals and we probably are embarrassed to say how often we really do come here :-)

I was trying to hold off visiting the new and improved Mandoon property for a few weeks, but the sun was shining this past Saturday and it was just the perfect day for a nice cold beer or glass of vino in the sun. It didn’t take much convincing for Mr. Spittoon and I to head out there! I have visited Mandoon Estate a few times since living in Perth and have always been fond of their Verdelho and Cab Merlot plus the lovely Irish lady who was always on the cellar door was an absolute pleasure to chat to. Over the past 12 months or so, Mandoon has undergone a MASSIVE makeover and upgrade. Their cellar door which originally opened in 2011 backed onto the working winery, which I loved but they decided to step up their game and are definitely now a major contender for the bigger wineries out in the Swan Valley since opening their new doors on monday 15th September 2014. With the new Homestead microbrewery, the new cellar door, the a la carte fine dining restaurant, the beer garden, playground & deli, the functions centre and the arts centre — it’s safe to say that Mandoon are wanting you to come out not for a couple of hours but to spend an entire day with them. The architecture and design are absolutely lovely, a lot of people have been saying that the venue reminds them of some of the big breweries and venues down in the Margaret River Wine Region. I love the swan water features around the property which are based off their Swan logo. it’s also nice that the property is well off the main roads and is surrounded by their vines, you definitely feel like you’ve escaped the roar and craziness of the city. On this particularly Saturday, we were famished as we had been running around doing errands all morning so we rocked up at the brewery with our hungry & thirsty pants on for sure. surprisingly it wasn’t as busy as expected for their first weekend. We were greeted at the door by a staff member who explained about the outside beer garden and also that we would have to order from the bar. The outside beer garden which is beside the playground is a lovely chilled out area. There were a lot of people relaxing at the picnic tables or on the grass, kids were playing the playground and young adults were throwing a footy around. You can order drinks and food from the beer garden bar and you can also order pizza to take home if you wish. The Homestead Brewery Beers. Naturally when I visit any microbrewery I always want a tasting plate(which is funny because I hardly ever drink dark beer so I normally have to give half the tastings away to Mr. Spittoon, not that he complains!). Currently Homestead aren’t doing tasting plates as they are still working on their range, once this is complete then they’ll offer tasting plates. The lovely staff member who I was chatting to this about explained that they’re still working on a Munich style beer(exciting!) and 2 ciders are also in the works. Currently they have a Hefeweizen(wheat) beer ‘Kaisers Choice’, Belgian Pale Ale ‘No1 Premier’, American Pale Ale ‘Thunderbird’ and a Black IPA ‘Black Swan’. My pick was definitely the No1 — I could quite easily drink a few too many pints of it! Pints range from $ 12-$ 14. Of course you can also order wine, coffee, milkshake, juices etc. The Homstead Brewery Food. As we were starving we ordered straight up, not the healthiest of snacks, but we couldn’t help ourselves, here’s what we went for: Triple Cooked Chips(gluten-free) for $ 9 — Decent serving, tasty mustard-aioli type sauce on the side, would definitely order again! Wort Marinated Pork Ribs and Cornbread for $ 14 — The sauce took me to foodie heaven and Mr. Spittoon couldn’t get enough of the cornbread, would def order again! Buffalo Chicken Wings with Blue Cheese Dip & Celery for $ 13 — Whoever makes the sauces is an absolute sauce god as the blue cheese dip was divine. The wings were nice and light which married with the dip perfectly, 6 wings on the plate which was perfect, would order again. Prosciutto, buffalo mozzarella and basil pizza for $ 24 — Most importantly the pizza base was insanely good, finally some decent pizza nearby! The food and 2 pints each came to around the $ 100 mark which was not too bad. We both left with a full tummy and our happy beer faces on. It was nice to have a walk around the large property after all that food! The New Mandoon Estate Cellar Door. I have to admit, the new cellar door is pretty swanky. It was packed on this particular day so we literally bought a couple of bottles of their new bubbles(check out my tasting. See my full post here:

I give it 4 stars on the beautiful outfit — indeed everything has not been done on a strict budget. It’s lovely to see a location so beautiful in the Swan Valley. Service was great and it boasts an easy ordering system at the bar. The food is ok — but the menu could use better verbiage to describe the food — Wort Marinated Ribs — to the layman may sound a bit off colour. However, still good and tasty! Plus VERY family and baby friendly. Looking forward to more visits.

Decided to check out the newest brewery on the block after visiting the Perth Hills Wine Show it was time for a palate cleansing beer. Homestead Brewery is like being back in Margaret River at the big breweries down there, long overdue for the Swan Valley region. WE arrived all 6 of us at 3pm on Saturday afternoon and it was a good time to arrive, spare seats in the sunshine on the veranda and no queues. Ciders are not ready yet at least another month away, but the beers are on tap and tasty Pale Ale it was that I tried. We also had some pizzas and ribs and the chippies are to die for all in all nice venue when the crowds are not there and the views are beautiful out over the vineyard. Worth a visit and a bite to eat for sure, will be back when I am not driving

No expense has been spared on this complex, absolutely awesome over looking the vineyard, open seating plan, indoors and out. Large parking area adjoining and a short walk. They have a choice of five beers brewed on the premises and two ciders on tap. I tried the Thunderbird Pale Ale and Brauhaus Larger both were great. I ordered the Wagyu Burger and after short wait it came out, staff seem a little bit lost as to the table numbers or who ordered it? Salt, pepper, silver ware, napkins arrive on request after your meal has been served. Maybe the staff are still getting the hang of it? seeing its the second week open. All the meals are on the small serve side and prices are on the high end. Its kid friendly playground and open grassed area at the restaurant end. They’ve won me over with the beers, jury is still out on the food !

Great spot! Just around the corner from Sandalford you can find the new Mandoon Estate/Homestead Brewery location. Perfect for sunny afternoons sitting near the river having a drink. Homestead Brewery has counter service and you can eat in the beer garden or next to the playground. The playground is great being fully fenced, soft-fall and shaded. Lots of picnic tables under the trees nearby. Food is all reasonably priced with a choice of bar snacks, sharing items or main meals. I recommend a bowl of the triple cooked chips with a cold pale ale.
