This hotel is okay, but the service needs to be improved. The older man at the front desk is very rude but the lady with the long dark hair is lovely and helpful. They don’t offer amenities for international travelers. They also won’t bring additional towels to your room. There’s no place to put soap or shampoo in the shower which is weird. The bathroom is tiny but the kitchen and sofa make up for it. The location is okay but you have to walk a few blocks to be able to catch a cab. The Nero café next door is fantastic. They also don’t provide conditioner so bring your own!

For some reason I got upgraded to a front room rather than the standard, so I can’t comment on the state of the standard rooms. The entrance is non-descript, almost swallowed between two of the restaurants that carpet Lygon St, so you might want to keep a sharp eye out. The reception is small and nofrills, service is perfunctory but they do have free WiFi(though I didn’t use it) which is more than almost every other major hotel in Australia. There is a lift and some parking out the back, but the stairs are what I took given I was only one floor up. The room is one large open area with a small table and large, king sized bed. It’s a nice room, nothing flash but OK for a few nights stay. Clean bathroom, a few cracks around the sink as you would expect from 3 star accommodation. Didn’t happen to use the kitchen either(one night stay), but it’s small and usable for 1 or 2 people. From the pics on their website(which could do with naming the types of rooms), it looks like the only difference is the one I was in was a bit bigger.
