To answer the first question, yes there is a charcoal grill! All of the grilled items are prepared in full view in the center of the neat and smartly decorated lower dining room. A well-lit display case of all of the delicious meats fronts the grill area. The Lygon Charcoal Grill offers an excellent selection of expertly and carefully prepared meats and fish. It’s tough to make a choice from all of the tasty options. My selections for the evening were the crusty home-made bread(the bread was the size and width of focaccia but with a paper-thin crust) and a huge«small» garden salad to start followed by medium-rare grilled kangaroo fillets served on a bed of cranberries and accompanied with potatoes, carrots, peas, and corn for the main. The fillets were lightly seasoned; they were also served atop the cranberries – both of these let me choose the additional seasoning and cranberries to take. A well-chosen but pricy selection of wines, including several good wines by the glass, is available. Service was friendly and attentive. The meals aren’t cheap(in any sense of the word), but they are more modestly priced than several nearby steakhouses. And although Unilocalers don’t appear to have found their way to the Grill, many other people clearly have. I wish I could afford to eat and be treated this well every night. I also wish that I had left room for dessert.
