Working lunch with approx. 23 of us on a Friday afternoon. The restaurant is not too busy when we arrived, we were put in this room like a greenhouse, where the sun was shining through and no aircon or fan in this room. So we were all boiling and couldn’t wait to get out of there. There is the lunch special where you choose entre pasta/small pizza or salad with a drink, but this doesn’t include any seafood type dish. I had the gambero spaghetti which was tasty, but as there were so many of us, the food didn’t quite arrived at the one time. so half of us finished our meals while the other half was just getting theirs. As soon as everyone finish, we were out of there. 3 stars for my tasty pasta, but I think there is still work to be done here.

Best gelato in Melbourne so far! I always get their ferrero roche flavor, baileys and frutti bosco.

Tasty ice cream at very reasonable prices. The atmosphere is great, but you can also eat your ice cream on the go. Last time I checked this place it was crowded so I had to wait a bit, but otherwise everything is perfect.

Freddo’s is a mainstay of Lygon Street, and the never ending lines are testament to how good the gelato is. Ethnic flavors are in abundance here. Durian, Lychee/litchi, Pandan Coconut. You name it, they got it. Every time I come here I probably sample 10 different flavors before going into a sugar rush before ordering anything. Personally, I like to get a single scoop but you should definitely have at least 2 flavors in a cup or cone!

I used to get gelato in the North End back in Boston, and I thought it was alright. Congratulations, Il Dolce Freddo. You’ve completely stepped up my expectations of just how AWESOME this Italian dessert can really be. The shop has an array of flavors. Don’t expect to be out in two minutes or less, as you’ll be starstruck, staring at the options to choose from. I went with Snickers – no regrets there. Although I do wish I got more than one scoop. When you visit Il Dolce Freddo, don’t be lame like me – splurge on at least two scoops and enjoy more of what this little gelato shop has to offer.

Pandan Coconut is.tha.bomb. Bonda fide gelato — that famously rich, creamy texture and flavour. How this place is outvoted by Fritz will forever be a mystery to me.

If the crowds aren’t an indication of the tasty tasty goodness that exists within the walls of this place, then order yourself some pandan coconut and tell me that it’s not one of the best frozen foods you’ve ever put in your mouth!

Looking for out-of-this-world gelato in Melbourne? Lygon Street is your best bet. And the best of the BEST gelato? Definitely Il Dolce Freddo. This may sound disingenuous, but bear with me here– the gelato here actually tastes like the food it is named after. No, really– it is like they have literally taken every component of whatever it may be; banana, coconut, chocolate; and just magically retained the nuances of taste while converting the texture of the food to that of ice cream. It is not often that food leaves me speechless but this place had that effect. It’s usually doing a roaring trade so expect to have to push to the front a little. It’s worth it, trust me.

You say gelati, I say gelato. Whatever, it’s all good at Il Dolce Freddo. I visited Il Dolce Freddo on a Saturday night at around 9pm and it was truly hectic. It took a bit of shoving to get to the front and get served, but it was well worth it. The pistachio gelati is TODIEFOR. So creamy and light, all at once. Words can’t do it justice. They’ve got a huge array of flavours at Il Dolce Freddo, including Snickers, which I’d never seen before. I didn’t try them all, but it’s not due to a lack of desire. This place is clearly a favourite of the masses on Lygon Street, and it’s well deserved.

If you’re wondering around Lygon St– do yourself a favor and stop by for some of the best tasting gelati in Melbourne. Il Dolce Freddo, is a gelato store that is very popular thanks to its just right flavors and textures. They have a variety of fruity sorbets, which include your standard flavors, as well as a few not so common ones(such as durian, coconut and lychee). Personally, as much as I love a fruity sorbet, you cannot go past their creamy section. Chocolate, tiramisu, Baileys, Ferrero Rocher… oh the Ferrero Rocher. If you like hazelnuts, promise me you will buy some Ferrero Rocher flavored gelato from here. My mouth is literally watering right now… it is, the best… did you hear me? I said ‘THE’ Best! This place isn’t like the rest, it’s on a whole page of its own. It’s not ‘some gelati place’ it’s the best freaking gelati place going around!

In acht Wochen Australien und Neuseeland, mit fast täglichem Eiscremegenuss, war das die allerbeste Location. Es war die beste Eisdiele, in der ich in meinem Leben Eis gegessen habe.
