I love sushi train so much. Waiting to catch your mystery meal circling around you has something exciting about it. It’s fun, it’s friendly and something a little bit different for a lunch catch up. Sushi from $ 3.30 a plate is pretty good going when you think about it. My meals were tasty, frequent and fresh. The staff were fairly friendly and super busy giving my friend and I the long awaited sushi train catch up. Service comes quickly when you press your convenient ‘service/bill’ button. Nothing spectacular about this sushi train, but then again, there’s nothing bad about it either. I’ll come back for sure, ready to try some more sushi dishes. Good work Carindale Westfield.

Decided to hit up ginga for a friday night dinner, and 3 plates in, we’re surprised to notice that even on a busy night, they were somehow still churning out plates that tasted like they’d been on the ‘train’ all day. Also tried a bowl of the chicken teriyaki($ 18 later for that ‘dish’ alone) which was dry and tasteless and the serving size was not worth the $$$. $ 35 later, kinda wishing we’d just stuck with grill’d…

This Japanese place is in the restaurant-y area downstairs at Westfield Carindale. My other half and I were looking for quick food before seeing a movie — and although we really want to try pretty much every restaurant here, we opted for Ginga as we were(are!) on the lookout for decent Japanese close to our new home in this area. It’s basically a Sushi Train, but wants to be a bit better than that so it can charge $$. I ordered from their menu the Agedashi Tofu and grabbed some avocado thin sushi rolls from the train. My boyfriend ordered Chicken Karagi and grabbed a plate of Sashimi as it came by too. Their Agedashi Tofu was decent. It tasted like proper Agedashi — I’ve found some places get lazy and just dump some tofu in miso soup. The only thing I could fault with it is that the texture was a little too sloppy and lacking the slight crispy edges it’s supposed to have(maybe that’s being too picky?). The Karagi Chicken looked like a pretty big meal, it came with about 8 pieces of chicken and some veggies and salad, which he said was«not bad». The best part about this place was you can press a button in front of you to get your bill, seriously every place should have that! So to wrap-up, the food was really nothing amazing and costed us like $ 50. But we’ll probably go back if we’re seeing a movie at Carindale again and want the convenience of our favourite style of food close to home.
