Quite often I’ve found shopping for clothes at the boutiques in the city a little confronting. You know the way some shop-girls will wait right outside the door while you’re trying something on to pounce on you with a «How did you go?» as soon as you walk out? Well I didn’t have this problem when I went to Red Cordial. Sure, the shop-girl was sweet like the namesake, but not sickly so. She seemed very knowledgeable about all her products and comfortable to let me find what it was that I wanted without trying to force ideas on me. In the end I picked up a couple of crackers: a cool pair of tartan, slightly flared pants with definite golf-punk-chic, AND the real show stopper — my awesome(but sadly now lost) ‘Mullet Fury’ t-shirt. It had this picture of a muscle-bound hulkish dude with a mullet ripping off his tartan shirt in a fit of, you guessed it – MULLETFURY!

My housemate and I were shopping the other day and he put me to a challenge. Find him a nice T-shirt under $ 30. With post Christmas sales you think this would be easy but most of the stuff we had looked at had not been quite right. The first shirt was too big, the second too small but the one at Red Cordial was just right. Red Cordial is one of many boutique clothing shops in Elizabeth arcade but, unlike many of the others that focus on female fashion, Red Cordial has clothing for both guys and girls. They have a good sale on at the moment which is worth checking out. The slightly indie styles available are prefect for the budding hipster. The staff are attentive and friendly to top it off.

I’m a massive fan of Elizabeth Arcade, purely for the fact that it’s packed with clothes shops which stock unique, and sometimes quirky, clothes and accessories that you won’t find anywhere else. Red Cordial is one of these clothes shops. It’s a fairly small store, but its racks are filled with wonderfully summery dresses, flower-print denim shorts and an array of jewellery. The staff here are very relaxed and are more than happy to help you out with sizes, or just have a general chat. The soft folk/pop music flows over you and adds to the relaxed vibe of the place. Definitely a great clothes shop for stocking up on festival attire, flowing dresses and casual tees and jeans.
