Great service, great staff. Lovely reno they did and I like the light level better. Used to be a bit dim. They roast coffee too so you can buy their beans. Colorful coffee cups, mines blue and orange today. A variety of cakes and sandwiches and pies. They will hear it up if you want. Intimate and ambient and convenient!

Fantastic environment situated in the elegance of the historical regant cinema building, the staff here embody the classic café vibe and they do it well. The coffee is awesome or amazing depending on who’s behind the machine and the array of delicious foods is always appetizing. One of my favourites due to a combination of all the positives. This place is well run and worth a look.

Great coffee in a quiet hideaway in the heart of the busy mall.

Aromas is locked in its own little bubble, away from the bustle of the CBD mall despite being centrally located there. A silence seems to fall when you go in. There are a lot of people here sitting by themselves and reading; I have never seen rowdy groups. There’s a bit of a «sshhh!» library vibe that’s immediately apparent, but it’s somehow welcoming rather than irritating. The coffee is delicious and because this is a fancy place you’ll probably get a fancy twirling leaf pattern in the froth of your cappuccino. There’s a lot of free rags around on stands(e.g. Scene magazine) and free artsy postcards. The biggest drawcard however is the fact that you can sit, read, think, eat and drink in what feels like total solitude. Whenever I walk by and glance at the outside seating area(minimal, and somewhat part of the collective mall bustle) I think about the time I sat at an outside table 12 years ago, waiting for a guy on our first date. It went okay, but I was early and nervous as hell and this is the part I remember. I still cringe to look at that table. Because of this table, I’m kicking my review down to four stars. No, not really.

Aromas is the perfect place to duck in for a quick pick me up during or after a shopping expedition. Located inside the entryway of the since closed Regent cinemas, Aromas is a much needed world away from the city. Much of this is owing to the charming décor. The main seating area spills out of the café and onto carpeted flooring. Right opposite the café entry is the preserved ticket counter that the Regent renovators decided to leave untouched. The area is dimly lit and shielded from most light despite being in the heart of the city. This is a great place to read and recover with a pot of tea and a slice of cake, or catch up with friends for a coffee if you’re after an intimate and private space with attentive, but not invasive service. If you’re stopping by for a quick coffee, there are high stools inside the café where you can sit with the day’s paper. But most people I’ve seen at Aromas like to sit down, take in their surrounds and soak up what’s left of this heritage listed site.

Hidden away in one of Brisbane’s oldest and coolest buildings, once home to the Regent cinemas this quaint café has an ambience like no other. When you first enter off the street you feel as if you are in Melbourne or that you have taken a step back in time, the lighting, architecture and furnishings give it a unique feel. Although it is just back from the hustle and bustle of the Queen Street Mall, when you are seated inside it is easy to forget due to the peace and quiet Aromas provides. A great place to read the paper or a good book, snack on a croissant and sip away at a decent coffee while the world moves at a 100miles an hour just a few feet away.
