This is my go to food place when catching up with a friend or family in the city! The menu has something for everyone and every time the chefs have delivered! From authentic tasting curries to inspiring Italian dishes it’s a great hub for food and laughs! There’s ample dining space upstairs(or upper deck) and downstairs. Both areas have a bar and it’s got a great vibe(upper deck) for your start to a great evening in the city.

Was trying to get a table earlier this evening around 6:30pm with my family and was greeted by one of the waitstaff, an older asian lady with thick rimmed glasses. She led us to a table but we asked to see if there was anything upstairs. She then basically snubbed us told us to go upstairs and basically threw a tantrum along with the silverware on the table. It was a real disappointment and a shame because we always saw Jimmy’s as a great place to eat with good quality food. We were also originally having friends visiting from USA and wanted to take them to Jimmy’s but Im glad we won’t to in order avoid the embarrassment. As a business owner myself I see this type of customer service as unacceptable and If I was the manager I would terminate this employee on the spot. That is no way to treat customers. I hope they resolve this issue and hopefully we can return some day with better service.

I love the new renovations, a great fixture in the Queen Street Mall and remember the classic promo line — «Meet you at Jimmy’s» — well this is the perfect meeting place on the Mall. Great for people watching and a lovely open air environment, the menu is good, not great… but good. I don’t feel inspired to write too much about it as there is nothing that jumps up and makes me want to shout about it. Other than maybe the renovations which tranformed Jimmy’s with a 2nd floor, which gives it a bit of a rooftop feel, but with views of mall pedestrians rather than a stunning city scape.

Food poisoning is awesome, thanks for the food poisoning. Tomorrow I will probably be 5kgs lighter, yaaaay the Jimmys diet of trying to poison patrons works. First and last time going here. Food mediocre and overpriced. We ordered from the bar menu… there was no room for 5 people in the restaurant area? Umm ok, couldn’t join tables? We had one seafood pizza, smelt like and tasted like the wet and poorly washed cutting board it was on. Excuse me food poisoning, brb. 2 orders of the burger, bun dry, meat patty hard/tasteless. Ribs ok I guess, asked for tomato sauce, came when we all had finished our meals. Rump steak had a lot of fat, $ 33 for a plate of fat, awesome… Priceless, we were moved from one table outside the toilet, to another table outside the toilet with a prime view when doors were open at the right time, nice… Had been wanting to try this… brb food poisoning… since moving here 2 months ago, huge let down and disappointing, especially when entertaining o/s visitors. Won’t be back, won’t be bringing or recommending this place to any visitors or colleagues. Shame looked really good to look at. Service…out of all the staff only 3 provided good service, wish I had caught their names, over the entitled others, these guys deserve a thank you. Ok too sick. Dine at your own risk.

Popped in for brunch and were able to sit upstairs looking out over Queen Street, great spot! We had blue swimmer crab cake and hot smoked salmon. The salmon tasted like they had smoked it themselves, overall food was delicious. The coffee was acceptable but not great, flavour was a bit one dimensional but definitely not the worst coffee I’ve ever had. Nice and friendly staff and a great spot on a sunny day!

Some of the worst service I’ve ever seen. Went to have after work drinks with co-workers but was turned away as the ‘drinks only’ area was full and we were not allowed to sit in the empty restaurant section. Seems like a poorly run business to be turning customers away over seating areas. If it were my staff they would be instructed to make every sale they can no matter what section people sit. Not the first time I’ve encountered shocking service at Jimmys however was hoping the facelift would have changed things.

Great venue and service. I love sitting on the second level as it gives you the opportunity to get away from the mall crowd. This was the second time I visited the new Jimmy’s, and also the second time I ordered the Picante pizza which I highly recommend. During my second visit, service was a little slower with some tables receiving food before ours but overall a good experience.

Picture this. It’s 2:30am, and you are in the city, wondering, «if only there’s a decent restaurant that I can go to and kick back». Well, there is such a place. Meet Jimmy’s on the Mall, version 2.0! As a Brisbane institution since 1982, it has undergone an awesome face-lift! But unlike Renee Zellweger’s, it is definitely for the better. Now 2 levels, shining bright like a beacon in the night(& day), open 24 hours 7 days a week. Serving breakfast, lunch, dinner, desserts, boutique beers, an extensive wine list & live music, Jimmy’s is a much needed boost to Brisbane’s ever burgeoning night life. We’d never tried Jimmy’s previously(prior to the renovations), but always noticed it as one of the«cafes» in the mall. However, now that it has transformed, it definitely stands out, and you can’t help but be drawn by the bright lights. There’s a bar upstairs and downstairs, with the main«restaurant» section upstairs. The atmosphere is just right, not too«pubby» with the accompanying noise, even when there’s some great acoustic live music happening. Our Jimmy’s on the Mall Upper Deck Restaurant selection was a little naughty & healthy. Prices maybe a little on the high-end for some(admittedly it’s pricey, in my opinion), but why not share plates, entrees, & pizzas. Enjoy the atmosphere & chill. The food was all-round delicious & service great. We had the: 1) Piccante Pizza. Chicken, cacciatore, mushroom, mozzarella, chilli. $ 24. 2) Mushroom & Truffle Arancini Balls(vegetarian). Tarator sauce, parmesan, basil oil. $ 16. 3) Beef croquettes. Slow cooked Kimberley red beef, garlic & almond dip. $ 17. 4) White cut chicken & mango salad. Mango, cashew, watercress, picked leaves, tomatoes, chilli, sesame & ginger dressing. $ 26. We were too full, to try dessert, but its always a reason to come back. Jimmy’s on the mall, do not take reservations, so if you’re in a group like we were, it might be a bit harder to get a table, but we didn’t wait very long at all. If you have a chance to check it out, the new Jimmy’s is a great option for catching up with friends.

The new architecture while attractive makes the roof unbearably hot. It’s so hot, that this is the first time in my life I’ve wanted to cancel my order. While the lack of fans is good for moving their $ 4 lemonades, the number of people that walked out isn’t good for business. The food is actually pretty good, shame I’m wolfing down as quickly as possible to get out of the heat!

It was ok. The food we got was served a little bit cold and had to return it to the kitchen. The server told us it must’ve been the weather because it was winter!

It’s okay I guess. The location makes it pretty popular, and if you can get a table, great! But you’ll be packed in like sardines. The afternoon I went they had a guy playing guitar. No one could actually see him, he was tucked away from everyone, but he was plugged in and amplified over the loud speakers. It was akin to being in a night club with all the yelling you had to do to be heard. The overpriced drinks made it even more like a night club. Definitely not the place for a quiet drink.

Nice coffee, good service. Means they have the wood on their Queen Street Mall competition… which wouldn’t be hard when you stop to think about it…

Jimmy’s is the best place to people watch on the mall. The food is good, the drink selection is ok but its the location and social TV that makes Jimmy’s a good place to have a drink. Don’t expect amazing table service although it can happen.

Pleasant location to enjoy the ambience of Brisbane whilst having a meal and drinks. I found service to be very slow to the point of going to the bar and ordering a drink myself. The food menu appeared to have a good selection from finger foods to more substantial meals. For those that like their sports, there are numerous screens showing various sporting fixtures.

I went to Jimmy’s for a coffee after brekkie on a saturday morning and returned the day after for a beer in the arvo while watching the AFL on TV. I did not actually have anything to eat there on both occasions so I can’t provide any insight about the food but, what I can say, is that the dishes that I saw being served looked really good. Set in the heart of Queen Street Mall, Jimmy’s on the Mall is open all day everyday and offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. Being close to everything, it is a great spot to chill on a warm sunday arvo while having a coffee. Those wanting to catch a league(I have finally learned from very persuasive Brissie locals that we do NOT say Rugby League but simply League!) game or watch a bit of the footy over a beer will like this place. I had a quick browse through the menu and I have to admit that it looks really good — fairly comprehensive but nonetheless a bit pricey depending on the type of clientele. I kind of regret not having eaten there and I definitely have my eye on Canadian French Breakfast(warm crepes, autumn berry compote, sweet spice pear, maple syrup & mascarpone) and the spanish risotto(saffron infused risotto NZ black lipped mussels, prawns, calamari, spanish grilled chicken, chorizo & garden peas) on my next trip! If you work close by and are doing a coffee run(my Flat White was not bad) or after something new/different for lunch and don’t mind forking out a bit more than usual, then give Jimmy’s a try.

I have never eaten at Jimmy’s as the menu is pretty pricey(you’re paying for location) but the food smells delicious so I may change my mind one day. What I’m here to tell you is if you need a coffee early on a Saturday or Sunday morning they’re open and they’ll make you a takeaway. It’s harder than you’d think to find a coffee before 9am on the weekend in the city and when I’ve had weekend classes at QUT(because I’m a sucker for punishment and I thought full time study with full time work was a bonzer idea) they’ve saved my attention span and probably my marks many times. Bless them.

I have only been to Jimmy’s for afternoon drinks therefore can not comment on their food but what I can say is that it is situated in an excellent spot to meet up with friends and have a couple of drinks(I’m pretty sure the phrase«I’ll meet you at Jimmy’s» is one I here frequently). Situated right in the middle of Queen street and right behind Café East, Jimmy’s could not have picked a better location to lure exhausted city-slickers in need of an after work drink. There are a few things that put me off this place though, because of its central location, you get a lot of the business-types and it is obvious that the staff are more interested in serving them rather than young 20-something casually dressed individuals like myself. If you do like going to busy places, then I would suggest you give this place a miss. All in all, Jimmy’s is not a bad bar and I probably will end up visiting it again in the near the future.

Oh, Jimmy’s. Is there anyone in Brisbane who hasn’t eaten here? I doubt it. It’s so easy to fall for Jimmy’s charms: its buzzing atmosphere, its location right in the middle of the mall, its extended opening hours. If Jimmy’s were a person, he’d be a player. The kind of guy who’d make you fall for his good looks, charm, and popularity only to overcharge you for a crappy meal. Wait, I think I’m mixing my metaphors. Anyway, you get the gist. It looks fun and happening, and it’s ALWAYS packed so you assume it must be good but it’s simply not. The staff are friendly enough but they’re also harried by the constant stream of customers and large tables of tourists so your order is likely to go astray. It’s probably for the best, anyway, because then you’ll have an excuse to cancel your meal once you see the quality(or lack thereof) of what the people around you have been served and you’ll save yourself the calories and the cash. If you really must come to Jimmy’s(and I understand the need for a sit down in a convenient and central location, especially when there’s an excellent people-watching vista) I would advise you to stick with a soft drink or a beer.

I worked in the city, right across from Jimmy’s for three years, and I’ve never known it to not be busy. That strikes me as a good recommendation for them though, because there is always a new crowd of people trying to bustle through its doors(even though it has no doors, just visualise with me). Jimmy’s is open 24⁄7 with a great range of beers on tap and sandwich + chips meal that really knows how to hit the spot. It’s a great venue whether you want a big hot breakfast, you’re craving some chips after a big night out, or you want to enjoy the city atmosphere with a beer in hand. They offer everything from wraps, burgers, and fish and chips through to asian selections. There’s essentially a menu option to please just about everyone. Their full menu is available online and whether you’re a Brisbane resident or just passing though, Jimmy’s is a Brisbane icon you should really try at least once.

If you are hungry or thirsty… and its a strange hour the likelihood is that somewhere along the line you will end up at Jimmy’s on the mall. This is one of a few restaurants that are seated in the center of Queen street which is appealing in itself as you are right there in the middle of the busiest shopping strip in Queensland. The service, in spite of the fact its always packed is usually pretty good here but unfortunately you can’t expect the same standard for the food. I have eaten here several times and have found the meals(regardless of the time of day) to be mediocre at best and overpriced for what they give you. I think this is a real pity considering most tourists are magnetized to these places due to their location. Nevertheless there are few places that can cater for a 3:00am steak and when your only other options are the likes of Hungry Jacks and Mcdonalds Im sure you, like I would find myself here as well.
