Groovy offering from the South for a hipster friendly organic café, rare down this far from town. This place is like a prophet spreading gospel to the people of Brighton that Westfield Marions’ food court is NO place for a quiet cuppa and cake. Puppy friendly seating out the front, we perched after a busy poke around all the little homeware shops making you want to buy more faux foliage than your budget can handle. Anyway back to business, loads of sandwiches on offer and pretty good coffee. The breakfasts are a little basic though there are quite a few salads on offer inside, we shared some eggs and salmon hold the bread and my partner in crime got a chicken sandwich. The food was lovely and worth the little wait. The dessert was a huge serve of super heavy chocolate cake that was pretty intense haha. I liked this place and it was pretty busy which is always a good sign but it didn’t grab me by the throat and tell me I would never love another café the same way I loved Edge. So 4⁄5!

I’ve been here a few times … but Jetty Road Brighton is one of those places where you have to get there at off-peak times, or not bother at all! All the eateries on this road get seriously busy — and The Edge is no exception. I was here yesterday morning scoping out the opening hours, since I will be starting a new job in this area, and will miss my City coffee shops(pathetic, I know!). Luckily, Edge opens at 7.30am, which is perfect. I came here at around 8.30am on a Wednesday morning, and it was still packed — how is this possible? Well, I guess around this area there are a lot of retired people, and people that possibly don’t have to work … but I was surprised, nonetheless. On this occasion I had a soy latte, which was delicious — but took a while to come out, since the staff were serving all the takeaway coffees first(even though they arrived long after me) — this will be great when I will be taking away … but not so great when you’re waiting for a coffee at a table! I have eaten here before, and the food is good(but not outstanding) — lots to choose from, from sandwiches and foccacias right through to bakes and slices. Breakfast at the next table looked amazing too, so I will be giving that a try soon! Décor is retro, with lots of mismatches tables and chairs from the 70s. I know there’s a LOT of this sort of décor around these days, but when I first came here a few years ago, it was one of the first I had seen ;)

Surprisingly good coffee but the service leaves something to be desired. Prices are a little on the high side for what they offer

If you could see my face right now, you’d notice the mixed look of disappointment and surprise, my lips pursed and my head shaking. We used to come here almost every weekend after walking the dogs along Brighton beach. Two years on and we expected the same great breakfasts and quirky service — and that’s where the disappointment comes in. I get it, I’m vegan and more often than not, I have to change menu items to suit my diet. So when I ordered the vege breakfast, minus eggs, minus pesto and mushrooms cooked in oil, what did I get? 2 poached eggs, raw baby spinach, barely cooked mushrooms, almost raw tomatoes and a nice dollop of pesto. UGH! The other two people I dined with enjoyed their breakfasts and we all enjoyed our coffees but my lips are still pursed.

This place is like bees to honey for Adelaide locals. I’d noticed this place many times but had never taken the time to go there, until this morning. I walked into a busy atmosphere with multiple customers lining up for their breakfast and morning coffee. Although it was busy there were plenty of tables still available. The décor was cool and different. The tables and chairs weren’t matching and the paint on the furniture was distressed and old. It has created character and has made The Edge edgy: P I ordered waffles(which I had never had before) and when they came out they looked very professional with berries, cream, mayple syrup and drizzled chocolate. Needless to say, it was delicious.(Refer to photo.) Whether it’s breakfast, lunch or dinner, The Edge has you covered.(Open til 9pm on Friday’s in warmer months.) PS, the staff are friendly, and good looking ;)
