Friendly barista, great view. Came here right after the sunrise for a take away coffee and it was really good. Right on the beach so would be a perfect stop if you were doing the coastal walk. 202⁄365

Sure you can’t fault the cracking view, friendly service and great coffee, but it’s the gluten free corn fritters with lime yogurt, bacon and avocado that I’ve been thinking about since our rendezvous. This could easily become a thing between us.

If you’re after a meal with a view at Bondi Beach, you best be prepared to pay for it. However, it’s nice to know that you can dodge the blind robbery if you eat at Birchina. With an affordable menu of well-done café fare, there’s a lot to love. The place is tiny with some communal wooden benches out the front. The coffee is good and the salads are better. After the long coogee to Bondi walk, I had worked up quite the appetite. With several varieties of gourmet salads on the menu, the choice wasn’t incredibly easy. After the hem and haw process was over, I settled on a salad with green beans, orange, lettuce, baby beets, bacon and a citrus vinaigrette. I found the flavours complimented each other very well and the value was great for the size. I finished the meal with a cappuccino. It didn’t completely blow me away, but as I gazed out at the beautiful coastline from the outdoor table I was sitting at, I considered the whole experience a general win.
