Centrelink

Standing in line at Centrelink is the bane of every student’s existence. It’s a demeaning and often unfruitful endeavour, and may the gods of government expenditure have pity on you should you not have the correct forms to fill in. Thankfully, I attend the only university in Australia that has a Centrelink on campus, and my experience with them has been relatively painless. The only people who attend this Centrelink branch are students, and as such, that embarrassed and piss poor feeling can be embraced with other students comrades who are going through the shit-​tastic experience of applying for social security payments. I’ve never had to wait in line here. Ever. Seriously.
The only fault I can find with this place is their lack of empathy. If you’re dealing with emotional students on a shoe string budget, a little kindness goes a long way. Don’t except no lolly pops or pats on the heads here, buster. These guys are ruthless.
