Thanks Plenty Balmain for reminding me that Christmastime is coming right up! The red and green and ho-ho-ho(y) ornament display lured me in this little shop. As I walked through the door, I found myself transfixed by the musings within. Plenty is chock full of things that are both«plenty» useful and«plenty» extraneous. But what’s life without a bit of flourish, right? They have all those little odds and ends to keep your kitchen drawers full at all times. If you’re hosting a dinner party and trying to impress, of if you need a hostess gift, this is a great little shop to try. Toward the back of Plenty, you’ll find a large section of spritely and cheerful plastic ware that would be great for a picnic– textured dishes in every color, plastic three-tiered serving trays and bowls in the shape of flowers. A great gift for a birthday, anniversary or wedding would be one of their woven picnic basket sets. With a wine bottle carrier attached at the side, chuck a bottle in there, some delicious salad and sandwiches inside, pop a beach blanket in your backpack and you’re set for a lovely little afternoon. If you’re a baker, Plenty has got you sorted with the cutest and most unique of cake décor– edible confetti in an array of shapes and colors, pastry decorating bags and design tips, cookie cutters and books on creating the most delectable cupcake. I don’t know what it is with Sydney and its cupcakes, but it’s probably time we all jump on that bandwagon.

One of those nifty little stores full or cool ideas and creations for the kitchen. If you’re into cooking, or revamping the kitchen, or for any reason at all really, you may want to drop in to see whats new. I always love exploring places like this with an «I wonder what they’ll come up with next» type attitude, even though I never cook. And shops like this are lifesavers when your mums birthday rolls around. What I liked best was the Molly Weasley character manning the counter. We didn’t speak much but it’s just the best to stumble across someone keen to help out and hear what’s happening and why you’ve come around. What a great lady. Have an explore around, and if you need kitchen gizmos, I suggest stopping in either here or at the sister store in Bondi Junction. What a great place.
