The Ashby Bar & Bistro

The food was average to say the least and the staff service was even worse. I asked for a cloth to clean up a spilt drink. The male waiter said he would go get one. I waited 10 minutes then looked over to the bar and noticed he had gone over to the till to do another job. I then asked another waiter for a cloth and she came over and cleaned the spill straight away. But she took away the cutlery and replied she would be back with replacements. Our food arrived but we had no cutlery to eat with so we had to remove cutlery from an empty table so we could eat our meal. Sad to say but the waiter never returned with the utensils. Appalling service. I guess that’s what you expect from hiring kids. I never sore and adult staff member the entire time I had lunch. This is my local pub and I won’t come back.

Never again, trying to get through plumes of smoke to the bar, past rude drunk young girls, food average

I’ve heard some really good reports for this out of the way place and was as keen as to try it out. So 7 of us rallied up for the occasion. The table staff did a fantastic job, couldn’t ask for any better. The young lady came and took our order and having a vegetarian with a mild cheese intolerance in the group made it difficult with their basic vegetarian menu choices. The balance of the menu could do with a little shake up. I think it was Gordon Ramsey who said «keep the menu simple with good quality»
Orders done waitress gone and the wait began and we waited waited and waited for around an HOUR before the first meals arrived, shows the meals can be produced in a good time frame but left to go cold, not good.
Chicken Parma, a Surf & turf & so on… Mate the chips where warm the steak COLD but tender & where the F is the salad, for $ 38 for a small piece of steak and 5 prawns with so called salt & pepper squid which was tasteless and again measly in quantity feeling Very crushed & disappointed.
Sorry to say I’ve had better Surf & Turfs from a northern highway truck stop.
Out of the group of 7 …3 of us were feeling let down & ripped off, the other 4 suggested it’s average.
Oh and not accepting split billing is bullshit and another annoying turn off, the solution is simple, they order the meal pay for the meal before they get the meal.

Love it. Good service good food and great price. Nice to sit down and have table service. Friendly staff that enjoy the work, nothing is too much trouble.
